I love watching your videos. I lived up South Lake Tahoe for total of 12 Years I worked at the Sahara Tahoe from 1977 until 1982 and then moved back up and worked at Lakeside Inn frm 1990 until 1997. When I saw that view with Round Hill in the background I was trying to figure out where you were but then I saw your comment that it was torn down. Thank you for your beautiful videos, it brings a beautiful nostalgic feeling to me. Only once did I have to shovel off my roof! Love your dogs!

I moved to SLT last February to be w my partner who's been here 30years. I'm from Atlanta! I wanted to see snow SO bad lol 😅 I believe I've seen enough! For real though I'd still rather be here any day

That would be a massive change. Agree even though it can be challenging at times, it is worth it!

I was laughing as I watched your video, sayings to myself, oh man don’t talk about the weather till the day is over. That rain is going to add to the weight of the snow. I enjoy your videos, stay safe and I’m looking forwards to the spring melt.

These storms have revealed that we'll need to re-roof in the coming construction season. I notice you seem to have a metal roof, and the snow doesn't "slide off" your roof and you still end up clearing it. Any pros/cons of the metal roof on your house you can share?
@justinbieber12373 Жыл бұрын
Metal roofs freeze and snow will stick. You could put a heating element under the metal between the insulation and metal sheets. Usually done when installing. Otherwise get up there with a shovel. If you have snow then it gets saturated with rain , like a sponge your roof will be holding a swimming pool of water. If you hear ANY CRACKING ,, GET OUT OF THE HOUSE !!!!!

Funny how some dogs gotta go for a roll every time they go out , unless is just pouring rain.

On the Mammoth mountain life channel he has a Golden retriever named Sadie that always does the same thing as yours. Loves to roll in the snow upside down and rub her face in it.

The don't plow the roads, fix the roads...what do they do with taxes?
@trimule Жыл бұрын
Roads in the mountains don't last like flatland roads. Freezing & thawing cycles constantly expand the tiniest cracks into eventual potholes, not to mention the damage done by tire chains. I have seen the highway beyond Kirkwood totally repaved and within two years it was like it had never been done.

they have already been out once after a previous storm cycle with rain and snow to fill the potholes but this amt of rain has just opened them back up again. Im sure they will be out then again once this fully clears for a few days.
@gobbletegook Жыл бұрын
@@tahoemountainlife The trouble is, when they fix the potholes, they apply it into wet cracks. They are doomed from the start when they do that here in WISCONSIN all the time...and we have that same horrible freeze/thaw crap every year about this time. But I certainly would not post a 40 MPH speed for that reason.

@Tahoe Mountain Life It's inevitable, Historic amount of snow pac in the Sierra and others. 70 year records being broken , another "RIVER" as they are calling it for next week. Not many if any been around to have see it back then.. Many homes and roads have been build in the way of runoff since then . Check with historical records to see what happened back then . 🍷

@@tahoemountainlife the heat from the stove pipe is enough to melt some snow on the roof. the water travels down hill till the grade flattens a bit and no insulation , outside temperature. the water touches the ice dam and immediately turns 32 degrees waiting to get to 31 degrees at the ice dam. a big dam or biggest dam on the block is a sign of poor insulation. both of your dams , by design , have zero insulation. you have had the 32 mark crossed more than average lately which is probably a big factor. the best systems i've seen are under the roof. corrugated roof looks inviting. one cord going up toward the the chimney but can stop at the insulated house. same thing where two roofs meet but getting under seems impossible , external close will have to do. only turn on when you get some ice and only on windless days. local hardware stores have complete short cables and kits. notice your icicles were one big non-insulated eve connection i know the minnesota thing. i spent four years in marguette. spent six years tahoe vista. t.ly/NLlUi
