To me it is fascinating that you profiled Johnny Cash's American IV, and Sting's, The Last Ship. Songs of men facing the great changes in their lives. So well done, so poetic and lyrical - pure art. These albums should be playing in a pub or bar, to the glow of neon beer and whiskey signs, the random clatter of pool balls, the silent football game on the TV at the end of the bar, the sparkling eyes of a dark eyed, dark haired beautiful woman and the warmth of her smile.

Masterpiece by Sting. Brings back memories of my life in London as a lowly working class lad. When you have a hard life upbringing , it’s makes you reflective , and humble. Anger , and sadness also. This resonated with me. Thanks for sharing.

I saw The Last Ship performed at the Liverpool Playhouse. It was magnificent on stage. Performed with passion and grace. I was sat behind Sting and Trudie Styler. You could sense the pride that he felt watching his creation unfold before him. He was also very gracious to the audience members who spoke to him. It was a great evening.

Great presentation as always Harley, thank you. My Sting 'revelation' was in 1991 with the same subject matter. 'The Soul Cages' album and particularly the song 'The Wild Wild Sea', is a sublime masterwork. It is one of the very finest recordings I have heard in the last 50 years. Make sure if possible the CD disc is a pre 1993 'Mastered By Nimbus' version. The Northumbrian pipes are played by regular contributor, Kathryn Tickell, who we saw many times in the 1990's. Thanks again for all your hard work in putting these superb presentations together. All the very best to you and all your team from here in Norfolk, in the UK.

Dear Harley, thank you very much for your channel and very interesting clips about Mozart, Sibelius and Schubert. This album became my favorite Sting's album right after its release. Sting seems very mature and wise on this album. And he doesn't care about genre boundaries on all of his collaborations with folk and classical musicians. There were exactly three collaboration projects with Deutsche Grammophon between this album and "Sacred Love". All three exceptionally good. If these albums have slipped your attention, my warmest recommendation for all three: the duo album with Edin Karamazov, as well as his fabulous "winter album" and the Live with Royal Philharmonics.

So glad you enjoyed the Pontus, Harley. I am lucky enough to have the Terminator Plus. A much more manly, testosterone fueled DAC, obviously, but the somewhat effete Pontus still has it's place. 😉 The sound of the Denafrips DACs is hard to pin down, but there is an ease to them, an effortless nature to the sound, which is completely non-fatiguing and allows all genres of music to shine. I do wish they had screens, though, just for convenience of setup. It can be fiddly setting up things like I2S pinouts.

Great review! Sting is an amazing artist, but the sound quality of Sting's albums was lacking IMO until his album Brand New Day. It contains the song "Ghost Story" where he wrestles with the relationship with his father who has passed, probably my favorite of all his tracks. I also recommend "Stolen Car" on on his album Sacred Love. It's a great test track for woofers/subwoofers. His album Ten Summoner's Tales is probably my favorite album overall with great performances and songwriting, but sound quality suffers a bit. Worth a listen, though!
