Love the tip on wrapping the playing strings that way. This is exactly why i follow this channel. I can repair a stringed instrument no problem. But the small tricks that make your life easier, that can only come from experience. In this case, in the form of mr Dave himself. Love this channel

I repaired a guitar almost like that it was sent to me in a shipping box and inside it was wrapped in a sleeping bag with He-man on it . I did the repair put it in a extra gig bag of mine and correctly packed it for shipping. . The guy got it back guitar fixed and a new gig bag . I received a message stating I stole the sleeping bag and would be hearing from authorities. The sleeping bag was in the bottom of the box as box filler protection. People are just plane silly . Just a funny story but true

Hello Again Dave. Loving your Pod Casts, I have learned so much from you which has enabled me to do most of my own adjustments and mods on all my guitars. One thing I think may improve your patron base is getting someone to reply to the many questions and advice your patrons ask of you. I am not suggesting you do it as I can see how busy you are, But perhaps a close friend/wife/son to do it for you. I think then we would feel more connected to you. Just a thought Dave

The angled springs should have slightly more tension than the straight one. The hole straight in line with the claw is the shortest possible way for the spring. The next hole over is a bit longer for the spring to reach. I suspect the difference in tension is too small to make a difference. They work fine either way.

Those screws probably got added to PREVENT the tremelo. Cheaper strats often have tuning issues when the tremelo isn't set up right. People will often tighten the bridge down just to be done with the silly thing.

Finally I don't feel so bad. I have always hated seeing the springs put on at angles the way these were. I have always felt the should all be parallel to one another so they can share the load equally. I have mentioned this to others and some were receptive and others thought I was being to critical. I feel vindicated!

That is definitely a Affinity Strat body. The thing i like about it is the thinner vintage profile. I have one exactly like it. You can tell by the color and thickness. That being said, I built my strat with that same body with a Squire Standard neck (CBS style) and GFS 70s pups. It sounds better than my MIM Strat!

The fret numbers on the neck, are from a game (Rocksmith). You use a real guitar, to learn how to play, on Xbox or ps4. New guitar players should check it out. All types of music can be downloaded, such as Judas Priest, Kiss, and Maiden. I think there’s even a Uriah Heep song.

The thickness of the body becomes the tell-tale sign. There are squiers with full thickness bodies but the vast majority of them have a thinner body than the MIM's and American strats. If that's a full thickness body, my bet is that it's a squier made in Mexico in the mid 90's.

@@Ndlanding I don't really play guitar much these days but I have been playing ukuleles strung and tuned like a mandolin. Nylon strings are a real challenge.
