Thank you for the last story about President Carter. It brings back memories of my dad who had a wood shop in our basement. He wasn't the handiest guy but built me a saddle stand for my first saddle. We had a rough relationship due to his alcohol problem but having this memory, which I had forgotten about until now, is another good memory I can put in my heart.

I'm originally from Rhode Island and have been through several hurricanes. I know the truth of what you are saying about the force of the wind and how scary it is. It is a very humbling experience. Thank you for putting this horrid event in Los Angeles into perspective. It puts all the political posturing where it belongs, both that which is upon us now and all that is likely to come; the lie that wants to convince us we should always be in control or that a strongman can do it.

Not a very good comparison of hurricane winds. We have a saying; hide from the winds, run from the water. Unless you get a Cat 4 or 5, water does the most damage.

I’ve often thought of the people of Paradise California. Where are they? What has happened to all of them? We don’t hear anything about any of them. Their lives totally turned upside down. The trauma. We can’t begin to comprehend. And that was just one catastrophe among so many more. How on earth do you go on from this? Where does one start when you’ve lost everything?

That wind isn’t going to go away. It’s just a matter of time in this era of climate change. City planning requires some major housing / city planning that is built upon common sense. We haven’t exactly answered the call having to do with climate change. The fallout from our unwillingness to change our lives based on the reality of climate change is beyond tragic. How do you walk away from a region that will be battered beyond anything we’ve ever seen before ? It’s terrible. My condolences to all who have lost their homes and livelihoods from the inevitable wildfires. Listen to the proper ecologists about anything having to do with rebuilding.

He explained that while, yes, he has a second home, as do many others, there are also the many families who have just lost their ONLY Home, a modest one at that, but it was their home. There are Renters who have just lost everything.. The Fires did not seek out places to scorch only of the Wealthy or only of Middle Class or of those barely getting by.. the Fires have burned at will , driven by the Winds that also were and are not picky about what they destroyed these fires are horrific as were the Hurricanes.
