Thank you for recognizing many moms, myself included, may not have a choice and may need to stop before they were ready. My son had severe oral ties that were missed until 6 months.

Just want to highlight the guest’s comment that breastmilk does not prevent all infections. For example HSV-1 (cold sore virus) is extremely dangerous for babies under 6 months. 85% fatality for untreated babies. And can spread through any contact (example, lips to head or lips to hand, hand that touched open sore to hand etc.). This isn’t discussed with new parents and I think it is especially impactful as many don’t consider a cold sore as being “sick”. For example, most people will go to work or school with an active cold sore outbreak. As a mother who nearly lost her baby due to this virus, had I known, I would have required family and friends to treat a cold sore like any cold or flu and postpone their visit until their symptoms were completely gone.

@ Yes exactly. Just highlighted what she said. And raising awareness about a virus that is deadly to babies. 85% fatality untreated and 25% fatality with treatment. The more people who know, the more babies will be saved.

I wouldn’t have a 6 month old around too many people or having people kiss the baby. Anyone that doesn’t like it can kick rocks.

***sending virtual hugs**** my niece got HSV-1 (I think from a nurse due to long hospital stay and no known family members with the virus or cold sores) and I know how scary it is. Glad your baby pulled through 🫶🏼 and thank you for spreading awareness.

Good to know that breast feeding reduces diabetes! I have gestational diabetes and ir increases the risk of both baby and me getting it later. I'm happy to know I can help negate that.

But do put your breastmilk in a bottle! Breastfeeding is so difficult cause you never know how much the baby is drinking, no one else can feed and bottle aversion is a real thing if you wait too long to give bottle

@duntxmezz this is not true at all. If a mom is unwell with any issues, the milk will contain antibodies produced by the mum, which will pass on to the babies and protect the baby further.
