Houston Astros fan here you’re pretty good at what you do miss having in National League Central. Every night in the city we get cardinal games. My dad grew up listening to cardinal games. I have grown up, listening to blues games on the radio.

@@LockedOnCardinalsMLB I'd keep them where they are. Cardinals currently have outfielders with decent range and players that are able to smash the ball out, just need to fix their pitch selection. Bringing the fence in seemed to hurt the O's as much as it helped them

If Mo is attempting to produce a productive Cardinals team, you'd never know it based on the team's silence during the winter meetings. The only news has been rumors of Nolan Arenado's poential trade. I like the young players on the St.. Louis roster, but they can't thrive on youth alone.
@LockedOnCardinalsMLB

I'm assuming cards absolutely are not going to eat more than 10 mil yearly. Arenado simply needs to be better. Cut & Dry , he hasn't come remotely close to earning his salary. Having said that , due to the fact every athlete is horrendously overpaid. At least appear to actually care. And quite often Arenado hasn't left me feeling he does.
@brianr4214
@brianr4214 10 күн бұрын
Furthermore, Arenado should be grateful that Mo was open to giving him as much as he'll make as a Card next 2 yrs. And play his butt off for the Cards. Way too often Arenado looks bored with losing , but most of our losing ways has been because Nolan and Paul weren't playing well offensively at all.

Correction, the worst place to be would be trading him for absolutely nothing like we did Tyler O'Neill. The Cardinals should either keep him or trade him and get a couple top 10 prospects in return. If you can't get a couple prospects in return there's no point in doing the deal.

I don't think Mo was serious when he said their "intention was to try to trade" Arenado. His idea is to keep him in St. Louis and sell nostalgia tickets so fans can see an aging star. That's what he did with Carpenter. (How did that work out for you, Mo?)

If Arenado is traded, then yes I'd definitely go with Gorman as my first choice at least to start the season! Donovan would play 2B. I also agree Walker should stay in RF at least for 2025. He has the arm, the speed, and was just below league average defensively last season. Walker being an average OF with a good arm, and if he's hitting wouldn't be too shabby. Contreras is going to play 1B, and we also have Burleson there if needed. Saggese would backup Donovan and Winn to start the season. I just don't think the beginning of 2025 is right for Saggese to start yet.

I'm with JD here. The Phillies by far make the most sense as a landing pad for Arenado, but they've gotta move Bohm first. I, for one, do not want Bohm in St. Louis. I'll take some of their good prospects though, maybe even lower tier if the Phillies take all of 'Nado's money. Gorman is the most obvious choice to take over 3rd base, but I REALLY hope he's working on his pitch recognition and hitting this off season! Those K and Whiff Rate numbers MUST come down! Get those walk numbers up, stop swinging at shit pitches. Let Donnie and Saggese tag-team 2nd. Saggese may need more time to be ready for full time at 2nd, but from AZFL stats, I'd say he's already there. Just needs more time seeing big league pitching.

Keep Arenado. A more important issue: The Nationals have the Number 1 pick and need a third baseman with some thump. We need that No 1 pick to get Ethan Holliday. Give the Nats Nolan Gorman (assuming Arenado would refuse to go there) and our No. 5 pick for their No. 1. They get an MLB ready 3rd baseman AND move down only four places in the draft. Ethan Holliday is going to be a super star in this league.

@@kevinnoah-i4o We just won the draft lottery for the 5th spot in this year's draft, and we COULD trade it to the Nats along with Gorman for their 1st spot. If we do not, the Nats are rumored to be taking Holliday themselves. I doubt they will go for it, but we should try.

Hey JD; I agree that Gorman should be given the chance at 3rd. If Walker was moved there where does Gorman fit with Suggesse and maybe later, Wetherholdt at 2nd. Donovan has to play somewhere and that could be anywhere depending on what others do or don’t do. Is Nootbaar a trade candidate? Time will tell. Once Wetherholdt arrives might Saggesse move to the outfield if he proves to be a good hitter/OBP with decent speed, arm and glove??? So many “ifs and what’s” to answer. Thanks for bringing us your show JD!! 🖐️😊
