Recognized as the voice of the Iberian and Latin American art song and often described as its ambassador, the soprano and musicologist Patricia Caicedo is one of the leading interpreters and researchers of this repertoire.
Dr. Caicedo is also a physician with a medical degree, and the CLAA is collaborating with the School of Social Work to invite their students and School of Medicine students to Dr. Caicedo’. Her lectures will examine the history and development of Latin American art songs, the processes of forming national identity, and how these processes can be seen and heard in the songs of different periods. This is the subject of her book The Latin American Art Song: Sounds of the Imagined Nations. She will also be giving masterclass workshops for students sharing her research on Latin American and Iberian art songs.
