I'm a new boater. My first time out I launched the boat like a champ docked the boat like a champ and reloaded the boat on the trailer like champ. Second time out was a disaster. I launched the boat okay but damn I hit the dock coming in and struggled to get the boat back on the trailer damn near fell on the ramp. 🤣 I went from oh yeah I got this boating stuff to back to the drawing board in one trip😂

I've seen people that would load their boats as simple as just beaching for weeks, then something would be off and they'd have so much trouble you'd think they'd only been aboard a boat for 5 minutes their entire lives. I sell live bait, normally 5-7 days a week, anchor dropped just about like being in the center of this lagoon that Big Dan is recording across. That's what I do, watch the trailer backing/launching/loading and bikinis when no one's alongside buying.

I still find it amazing that so many people apparently have enough disposable income to have a $200,000 boat, and pull it with an $80,000 truck, and a lot of them look young. It isn’t like they’re cashing in their 401’s.

I had owned a 18’ Sea Ray for over 20 years. We had it down pat. We could load and unload quicker than anyone at the ramp. This winter I traded it for a 22’ Tri Toon. This thing is kicking my butt trying to get it back on the trailer. Currents and any wind at all pushes the back toons away from the bunks even when it’s straight in the front. Watching other people struggle with pontoons makes me feel a little better. I will say, this new Tri Toon is great when it’s on the water. Trailering it is a pretty big pain though.

I find it amazing that there people still judging others for what they can afford. If all you can do is a cheaper pontoon boat then good for you. if all you can afford to live in is a cheaper double wide then good for ya. At least you have a roof over your head and a boat to go out and enjoy. So be careful what ya say. and be thankful for what god has given you in life. You might be living under a bridge next month. This ramp is a bit difficult as I've had trouble on the exact lane the pontoon was on. That current coming right to left sent me into the other lane. mind you I got it on the second try, but the current at the ICW launch is a pain.

3:00 I would give some the benefit of doubt; had not been for watching your show. I would not know to slow down when driving through that area and unless something was posted, a big reason why I watch the show is to learn not just about putting the boat in the water but also for unwritten rules like this! With all of that being said I’m sure both of them knew they should slow down!!!

That’s good. I’m glad I’m able to help out. I appreciate you 🤟👌

I've never been to this ramp but maybe Big Dan could correct or reenforce this. It looks like the buoy for no wake/normal speed is to our far left at the base of where this manmade rock jetty begins to make this lagoon. What I mean by far left is when he is showing the boats going by in the ICW(inner coastal waterway). There are channel makers, buoys, large shore signs on both sides, depending where you are, about no wake, normal speed-and an unwritten courtesy as you mentioned.

That guy has his crew set up well. Older daughter docks the boat momma keeps it tied up then drop the twin poles and wait for Dad parking the truck. Super easy. Having them poles go straight back and not off on a 45 angle really helps in docking.

Stop power loading ppl. Get your trailer as close as possible to the dock and walk walk your boat up. May you also remember that not every ramp has a dock and good luck walking it up in a faster moving river. Power loading has it's place outside of the super easy and extremely convenient ramps most people use.

Shouldn't be a problem calling them a lady boater. Any couple male/female that boat often both parties should be able to handle the boat and truck. I do most of the boat driving backing in trailer docking but wife parks empty trailer and ties lines we work as a team. If something happens to me and I'm unable she can do everything Solo also. Each team has there strategy.
