For years now, my husband does his 2 loads of laundry on Sunday. He says he knows where the spots are to treat, and he says I often lose one of his socks. Lol He loves his high quality socks. I do the rest of laundry during the week. This works for us.

I have children with special needs and I work on life skills a Lot with all of my children. With laundry, my 2nd son who has Autism is 10yrs old & I had him start by helping put his clothes away. Then I'm moving on to help put clothes in the washer. We have a deep washer and its hard for even me to pull them all off the bottom haha so I know he won't be able to reach to get things out to put in the dryer, but brother (who is 11) is taller and can help with that. My oldest (11) helps move the clothes from washer to dryer and dryer to basket so I can fold. And then they both help put their clothes away. Soon I will have them help sort and do detergent.

I never understand why people would sort laundry by person. I just was dark clothes for example. I don't care who the clothes belong to, the whole families clothes will be washed together. If I sort by darks and lights and by person it would take weeks for me to get a load full. It's fine, I don't care, but what you say about letting children do theri own laundry can't happen because of that. Therefore my 17 year old son never washed his laundry.
