I saw this film (the unrated director's cut) a few weeks ago, it was pretty good. If you're a huge Stephen King fan, you'll loathe this film, If you're a fan of virtual reality films or what so ever, you'll like this film. This film was released 19 days before I was born.

Today there's better CGI in video games, but at the time of this films release they were cutting edge. It's hard to believe people being blown away by these CGI's, but they were, including myself. This was at a time when CGI was starting to take over stop motion and practical effects in films, and Sci-fi/horror would never be the same again.

Checked it out when it was first released and really enjoyed it, very similar to a movie from the 60s called "Charly" with Cliff Roberston which has the idea at its core of a guy who super enhances his IQ through science

@Stephanie Slayer Some love to take a dump on the effects, but they seriously don't understand how complex and revolutionary it was back in the early 80's. Heck same goes for some of the visual effects for Young Sherlock Holmes, The Last Starfighter, The Abyss, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Death Becomes Her, Jurassic Park, The Mask etc.

I still have the Super Nintendo game! lol my brother just took a shot in getting it for me for Christmas one year. Initially, I didn't think much of it, but my friend loved it and I came to like it a lot through playing the 2 player mode with him. The final boss though... never again!
