Technically Alekhine's gun places the queen behind both rooks. It is different. And stronger
@historicalgames91073 жыл бұрын
@@santiagorodriguez2940 The idea is the same. The queen behind the rooks is more ideal but you don't always have that. The queen between rooks is just as good and worked perfectly. This game proves Capa is far more powerful than Alekhine. Also, he is the laziest chess player of all times. If he studied like Bobby Fischer he would probably be #1 in history.

Capablanca like now Leela is learning . There will be one day when he will remain undefated for 8 years " belived or not" and this of course will be his downfall .He thought he didn't need any special preparation to defeat Alekhine in the Championship match. He was wrong. Even after the lost to AA he was considered the best chess player in the world for a few more years. I assume that a tropical bird like Capa would have had a lots of problem with the cold weather in Europe and caught the flu often.

Dd i miss something at 9:15? I didn't find that elusive move Agad shows. Its a rather long sequence to mate, but what about simply playing ..Qg4 threatening mate on g2? White can't capture the knight with the bishop Bxf4 because this opens the e-file allowing Re1#, and the only other defense i found is g3 which also doesn't work due to Qh3+ followed by Qg2#. after some more searching i noticed white can play Qb7 protecting the g2 square, so my idea doens't work. Obviously Agad, Capa and Alekhine all know a wee bit more about chess than i do. 😁

I assume you already covered Lasker's win over Capablanca in this same tournament? That game demonstrated that a knight on e6 or d6 protected by a pawn is a monster. Many years ago I played against this guy (who is a math teacher, much stronger than me at chess) and when I planted a knight there (this was a blitz game, 5 minutes per side) he did not think twice: sacrificed the exchange.
