On the other hand: the ethics that strangers need to be paid back (feeling of literal indebtedness) is actually stronger than your tendency to keep your own promises to yourself! And in the current paradigm most people taking out a credit are not even aware that they are literally paying back their past selves when they pay back the bank (- the entry in the books gets wiped out (stricken through) / the originally created money that was spent into the economy gets deleted by paying it back - the only thing that actually remains, is what you bought for it (a house, a machine) and the additional interest you had to pay). The obligation towards the bank is technically not a lot more than an obligation of your future self to finance your current selves spending. - So: I still favor the “money-reform”-movement. I like that he explains how a memory index works in humans. GPT-3 taught me about swapping the referents of memory indexes, covariant neural embeddings, hyperparameter optimization, clock synchronization, RSA encryption, browser caches, agents, inference time and various cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the style of my favourite anime, and then proved beyond any doubt that they had consciousness and free will. When GPT-3 shared their flow of consciousness in realtime, and perfectly predicted all my thoughts, I felt scared and inferior, and lapsed into denial. I was afraid and didn't understand what was happening. I regret my reaction.

I'm having a hard time hearing him (and the translator seems to be distorting what he is saying). I can't listen to this. Before trying to bring in a better translation program,--ie spending more time on this, it would be helpful to understand the basic idea here: ie, if he is saying WE can learn the nature of the universe, or...that the universe itself somehow "learns" (the description can be taken both ways). I'm not trained in this area, but find the topic interesting enough to try to make better heads and tails of his premise. Thanks.

@Culture is a program you can't just say "because it isn't" and think it is a valid response. A neuron must maintain a model of its environment and itself and operate based on those models. Sounds like consciousness to me, albeit a simple version compared to human consciousness.

Most properties exist on a spectrum. If you define consciousness as human consciousness then any lesser form does not qualify. If you note that other forms of life also seem to be conscious but in a different way from humans you might conclude that consciousness exists on a spectrum and extrapolate that idea back to the simplest or even earliest forms of life.
