i love the leatherman crunch! one of the best tools i never knew i needed. When my grandfather passed in 2006 he left a couple things for me, he left his old mariner's watch, his mariner's knife, and his old leatherman crunch from the 90's. I love this tool with all my heart

Good to hear. I've had one for years and really like it. When I need a lighter multi tool to carry or I know I'm going to be in a situation where it's unique function I needed in usually lament not using it more often. The only thing I would change is adding a magnet to it somewhere internally to help retain a bit holder when using it as a driver. Edit: In case people don't understand what I'm talking about above. If you completely unscrew the adjustment knob and remove it there is a hex shaped hole that will accept a bit adaptor. Unfortunately the can fall out so a magnet would have been helpful there.

Leatherman is a really cool company. I inherited my fathers Supertool and can't imagine life without a wave in my pocket at work after carrying one for almost 5 years now. I didn't pay much attention to the crunch till it was discontinued but I could see it very functional in many tradesman pockets. Elevator mechanics, HVAC,Tin knockers, and Iron workers specifically. I want one

Not a novelty, not a toy. Thinking of it as just another pair of pliers is short sighted. It's a clamp, and third hand as well as a really good driver when you carry an extension and bits with it. I use mine all the time around the house, camping, fishing, hunting and at work. It's a light handy little thing, be it on your belt, in your pocket, or in a pack paired with a supertool. When you can't lug around a toolbox with a huge pair of heavy vise grips due to weight or space.....leatherman.

Back in 2018 one of my all-time favorite stores closed, which was Harry's Army Navy😔 It was located in Robbinsville NJ(a one hours ride for me). I've been shopping there since 2002, and when it was closing I bought a ton of stuff from them at discussed prices, including a bunch of Leatherman stuff. I bought a Leatherman Crunch, original Leatherman Juice S2, and 5 discontinued leatherman nylon pouches👍

I do have a Crunch and being an automotive tech it’s on my side everyday. I did buy it when production started again and did receive the newer version. Love the tool, it allows for small car repairs. Paid full price.

Sounds crazy because it’s a pair of locking pliers, but BE CAREFUL bearing down on something too hard. You’ll rip/crack the back of the stamped steel handle by the pliers jaws. Leatherman has the best warranty in the game, but something to watch out for.

I’ve had my original for years, you missed two options there’s wire strippers and a bit driver ✌️ the wire strippers are on the hinge It does have a diagram stamped and the bit driver is where the adjustment screw goes.

I have a similar Leatherman . I bought it from LLBeans. The knife blades are razor sharp. Mine opens to needle nose pliers. I would own a model with small locking pliers but I carry a mini vise grip with the tool. I shoved in a small hemostat on one side of sheath, a sturdy forceps (big surgical tweezers for laymen) &wide edge razor called a WECK blade single +#11 scalpel blade in the back. Waxed line small s hooks a white stone, spool of mechanic wire, a roll of g tape, a hank of para cord a few Band-Aid I am prepped in small kit for the car or pack. Love good tools but in actual use not as toys for boys

Hey there is a little hack/lesser known additional tool, I'm pretty sure that there is also a 1/4" hex driver underneath the adjustment screw for the vice grips!

I have one of the originals, bought it about 7 years ago, i love the design, but i don't have much use for it really, i barely use the normal needle nose LMs, i use my knipex mini pliers way more often, but still, i like to have LM for collection and ocasional uses (my favorite is the Rebar)

Good review! They are in stock on their site, just checked it out...correction....they are currently unavailable...& yes, it uses a nylon sheath...leather looks much better...so I imagine you would have to order an additional leather sheath if you want that as opposed to nylon...it is $119.95...

Mine I keep in my tool bag as a backup MT/ mini vice grips. Sometimes, you just need something to hold the top of a bolt or clamp something. I rarely ever use the side implements except for the file, I use it for prying commonly when using the tool itself. The side implements are good its just it doesn't sit on my side as much as my primary MT. Also, the fact it isn't for sale all the time makes it hard to want to overly abuse it like I do my work MT.

I do have the new one, grabbed it in January at a local sporting goods shop, I do carry it every day, I do not baby it and it's holding up very well, but after seeing this video and doing a little research I think I'm putting it away. Edit: The date stamp on the inside says 0820, just looked.

ME TOO ! I'm going to give all 3 to my 3 boys when I'm gone. Got it all prepared with a sheath (that has 2 pockets on sides), with a flashlight and ferro rod and 100ft Kevlar string, a key ring, and a Neodymium Magnet Disc with a hole in the center. The kevlar string is fire proof and pulls 500 to 1,500 lb. has a ferro rod one one end, and a key ring on other. I hope they will find many uses as they did me.

I must have missed your original video - or forgot about it - because I don't think I knew these existed. I certainly didn't know they were back in production. I don't keep up with Leatherman because, IMO, they are - for the most part - ridiculously overpriced. I mean, all of the good, name brand multitools are expensive but after a certain (price)point you are just paying for the Leatherman name. I have a Buck multitool and a couple of Gerbers that have served me well for years and, while not exactly inexpensive, they did not carry the Leatherman pricetag (although prices on the Gerber models are creeping up). Of course as I use one a good bit when fishing to help extract hooks without injuring the fish any more than necessary - and that is generally my main use for a multitool with pliers - I prefer the Gerber models that have sliding pliers for one-hand opening. All that said, I can see the attraction of vice grips. I mean, if you are carrying pliers, anyway, why not locking ones? You don't have to lock them and can use them like regular pliers. Funny thing you mentioned Harbor Freight because when you said they are priced around $120 I thought, "No, thanks. I'd just go to Harbor Freight and buy a small pair of vice grips to carry along with my SAK (the SAK is my daily carry). Still it is always cool that you talk about and show things like this.
