Baby that voice ain’t NOTHING to be played with. Brandy has opened the door for so many of todays artist and it irritated me so much when that Jack Harlow boy didn’t know who she was and has the audacity to call her Ray J’s sister; how do you not know who BRANDY IS? She had an entire show and multiple platnium records and albums. So uncultured while also taking from the the culture 🤔Brandy is a LEGEND and definitely deserves a super bowl halftime show 💅🏽

True. Even though I wasn’t born when Brandy first hit the height of her career, I know more Brandy songs than Ray J, where I can only name three.

I don’t know anyone in my generation who only sees her as ray j’s sister, at least not in my experience. most of us know her as a singer (The boy is mine blew up on tiktok recently and so many of gen z now know that’s her song). Whereas, Ray J’s music is not well known among younger people.

Something that has been missing out of the Brandy “Vocal Bible” conversation is singer/songwriter Rahsaan Patterson’s influence on Brandy’s vocal styling. Rahsaan wrote and produced on Brandy’s first album and im telling you now alot of those riffs and runs have Rahsaan ALL OVER IT. I’m almost positive that it’s how Rahsaan sung the songs on the demo/reference track, and Brandy sung it just like he did. She used the style, took it, ran with it, remixed it a bit on later albums and here we are. But lets put Rahsaan Patterson’s name in the conversation and give the brother some credit.

I love the "I Wanna Be Down' remix! Everyone did what they had to do and it was perfect! "The Boy is Mine" is also great, I used to modulate my voice so I could do both parts. Singers like her were very inspirational to me because I LOVE music, and seeing how versatile her voice was encouraged me to reach higher and try different vocal styles too. Sade and Toni Braxton were inspirational as well because my voice started out quite low when I was young and I would feel self-conscious but hearing them gave me much confidence and appreciation for my voice. I would love a video on both of them please. Wonderful video as always🥰

I love Brandy sooooooo much and her music 💗💕she's so beautiful and beyond talented. I remember a lot of these new gen kids were saying "who is she?" calling her old and saying that she was irrelevant smh. meanwhile their new favorite artist wont be talked about in the next few years and have bitten and copied off of every single artist from the 80s/90s/2000s etc. the numbers they get on the chart is because of social media and tiktok,ig. you take all of those things away and see if they're able to pull in the numbers that the artist in those decades were. half of them can barely perform on stage and only thrive off of gimmicks, this was REAL TRUE AUTHENTIC talent and your talent spoke for itself back then. which is why a lot of them are crying about the music ban on tik tok now lmao is it because they know they don't sell without that?

Her voice is so beautiful and the fact that other legendary singers always spoke of much of a incredible vocalist she is speaks volumes, a true beauty and talent, she really was Americas sweetheart. Alot of today's singers sound the same, it's like they watch that person gain success from singing a certain way and now everyone else wants to sing like that, the same production, the same style, sound, hair etc. there is hardly any individuality which is why I love Victoria Monet so much because she's not following behind anyone else and is authentically herself and like Brandy she loves music. a lot of these artist have no respect for music and they can't even name half of the people that are being sampled but love taking from those eras. the music industry needs to be revamped and auditions need to be held again like back in the day, all of this social media follower nonsense is costing the industry money, the artist are hot for 1-2 years and then fade out and then it's rinse and repeat
