Was an American singer and actress. Waters frequently performed jazz, swing, and pop music on the Broadway stage and in concerts, but she began her career in the 1920s singing blues.

Mr. Darkwarrior, please accept my gratitude for this short documentary on my alltime favorite popular singer. I began listening to her on television during my childhood in the 1950s, and upon reaching maturity, I began to look for her classic recordings, having read her autobiography "His Eye is on the Sparrow." Her story blew my mind, to borrow a phrase from my generation. I only saw her at a Billy Graham crusade, but shall always be her biggest fan. Thank you so much.😍😍😍

@@thedarkwarriorperspective7475 I have spent the last 51 years studying and researching African American music. Miss. Waters always figures prominently, when one considers vocal stylists. She launched much of what we call popular singing.

I don't know her on screen performances, but I've never heard a bad recording. Her records are beautiful and deep.

Ms. Waters had "sass" before the word was penned. She made a way when there was none which I love about her. I believe that Ms. Ms. Waters was not only an actress gifted with "raw talent," she was also one of the pre-cursors to the Civil Rights movement. Sometimes I feel like I penned her journey and I was not even born yet! She was the personification of "a strong woman" with a strong sense of self. Accolades to her!

@@thedarkwarriorperspective7475 I find YOU to be heroic myself, personally. You may NOT feel that you are any type of hero, but there are plenty of Brothas (and Sistahz too) who view you as such. Surely some of these Brothas may not openly express it, but note that this one just has. Big Love to ya, Bruh!
