EU4 is a complex game to be fair. Takes a good couple of hundred hours to get comfortable with it. Biggest problem was there armies in my opinion. Kept on getting trounced by similarly sized stacks so they were probably declaring wars whilst behind on miltech. They were also very aggressive in close wars where sitting at home and simply defending against sieges would have whittled them down. Army composition and ideas could have also been a problem. Or not consolidating their armies and what generals they were using. Considering Prussia, Brandenburg and Sweden each have pretty significant combat traditions/ideas they really should be winning their battles against Denmark and similarly sized Muscovy.

@@pagatryx5451​​⁠you’re exactly right about the army conpositions. Also it is indeed a hard game to master. If you play it more you also get better at nation building. You doortast better, you might dev better, prioritising buildings and a multitude of smaller decisions that influence your country. If you do so you can pay for a larger army and thus win harder wars. Bo not being able to deal with rebels and instead opting to accept 20% autonomy demands is a good example of bad decision making in terms of understanding how it will weaken the country. Taking debt (burger loans preferably) and even raising mercs to deal with the rebels would have been a better choice. But generally the decision making is good and they will still be able to make nice countries (well… not swimmy though). Also playing eu4 and learning some smart plays for situations and implementing them is what makes learning eu4 fun.

Only time you should really be worried about rebels, even when your manpower is at zero is when you have 150%< overextension. That's when shit starts getting dangerous, but even then you don't accept.

Sweden is a very strong nation once you're established, but it has major money problems early on and a couple of bad breakpoints if you're not sure of what you're doing. These lads don't play EU4 much and I doubt they'd have gone to the lengths of watching guide videos or whatnot to know what they're getting themselves into.
