Great video! I'm a long time NASB95 user, but I got to admit I love LSB and I'm a big fan of the translation! It has become my favorite translation. Please 316, keep promoting it and keep producing more layouts of this amazing translation! Please don't take this small critique the wrong way pastors, the verse that was quoted at the end of the video - 2 Timothy 1:13, reads a little different than the NASB95, it's rendered "Hold to the standard of sound words which you have have from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus." That was one of the very few verses I thought that the translators could have kept. Retaining the word "retain" (pun intended lol) has a nice flow to it. 2 Timothy was one of the books that I have mostly memorized. Anyway, may Yahweh continue to bless your ministry.

Something I have noticed as an English teacher is the grammatical tenses, which shed more light on the meaning. e.g. ....the Lord Jesus in the same night in which He was being betrayed ..... That last clause is past continuous, which means the betrayal was happening at the same time in which he broke bread. In the same moment. That makes a big difference. Another: "for what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world "AND" forfeits his soul. Not "BUT " forfeits his soul. There is no contrast there, but rather, there is a natural consequence . If you gain the whole world, the result is forfeiting your soul. Sorry for the long comment, but I just love this translation. -William

In general, I love the LSB. 😊 That said, I have some minor nitpicks with it: 1. Just on a Bible editions level, I wish there was a single column, paragraph format, and black letter version of the LSB. I emailed 316 and asked but they tell me there isn't one as of December 2024. But let's hope that changes in the future. 2. Just on a stylistic note, I wish the LSB hadn't gone with capitalizing divine pronouns. Mark Ward has a good article about not capitalizing divine pronouns. Among other things, he interacts with the most common reasons in favor of capitalization of divine pronouns (e.g. reverence or respect for the Lord). I'm persuaded by Ward's arguments. 3. Another stylistic note. OT quotations in the NT in small caps seems like the text is shouting at me which I often need to remind myself that's not the csse. More to the point, see the introduction to the (most philosophically astute) translation of Augustine's Confessions by Thomas Williams. Williams explains why he decidedly does not call attention to places where Augustine references Scripture in Confessions but prefers to let the reader figure it out on their own. I think at least some of Williams' reasons can apply to the LSB's NT capitalization of OT quotations. 4. Final stylistic note is that using italics for words not in the original Hebrew and Greek texts is counterintuitive inasmuch as italics normally denote a special emphasis of words present in the text, not their absence. This gets a lot of getting used to for me. 5. Again these are relatively minor nitpicks but still they're a bit annoying. I think part of the reason the ESV is so popular is because Crossway focuses a lot on aesthetics including style. At least they provide a variety of different Bibles with different styles (e.g. red letter and black letter, single column and double columns). It'd be good if 316 does the same as Crossway (e.g. provide versions of the LSB in both single column paragraph format and double columns, provide LSB versions with capitalized divine names and no caps). 6. By the way, I think there's some tension with the LSB translators saying, on the one hand, that they translate Yahweh in the OT and Lord in the NT because that's what the original manuscripts say, and on the other hand, the LSB translators saying they capitalize divine pronouns even though the original manuscripts don't do so. 7. The HCSB (predecessor to the CSB) also used Yahweh instead of Lord and slave instead of servant or bondservant, but then changed their minds when the HCSB became the CSB in 2017. The CSB preface explain their reasons why rhey decided to go back to Lord and servant. I'd be interested to hear if the LSB has a response to such reasoning. 8. I'll finish on a positive note. As we know, the LSB is based on the NASB95. Apart from anything else, I think the name change from the NASB to the LSB is a hugely underrated improvement. What I mean is that the NASB may be popular to some degree in the US, but I know fellow conservative evangelical (and Reformed) Christians from other English speaking nations (e.g. the UK, Australia, New Zealand) balk at using a translation with the word "American" in it. They have nothing against the translation itself, per se, they believe it may even be an amazing translation. However it'd be like recommending we as Americans use a translation called the New Australian Standard Bible or the New British Commonwealth Bible or something like that. It might be a perfectly fine translation, but it'd be a hard sell to use a translation with what could come across as a geographical or cultural specific title as opposed to other translations that don't have this perceived specificity or exclusivity. The name "Legacy Standard Bible" has the potential to have a far wider or broader appeal in this respect than if it had been called the NASB 2021 or similar.

Good presentation and interview with Gary Kim. I am always willing to examine different translations of God's Word! Have you brothers ever discussed the KJV Onlyists cult? I think this is critical. Most often, their comments are prideful and obnoxious, sometimes even hateful. Please discuss this cult and how to respond to their lack of love and grace. I hate to call them my enemy, but that's how they behave! I wish they'd grow up! 😔🤷‍♀️

I applaud the LSB for using YHWH in the English old testament. However - they fall short of my desire. I want them to use Elohim and Adonai in the old testament. I want them to use Kurios in the New Testament. Why not? This would clarify a lot of the generic words "god" and "Lord." Does anyone know why they did not automatically and naturally decide to not only only use YHWH but also use Adonai, El Shadai, Elohim, and in the NT Kurios.
