Thank you for taping this. I never got a chance to see it. Loved the interactivity with the guests. Always nice to see Johnny as Jack. I've never really liked that venue after seeing the Narnia exhibit. It's in a bad location and hard to find.This was awesome in comparison! Plus its a nice break from the heat for 15 mins.. Hopefully, Disney should take notes on this and expand on it somewhere else.

Yeah it was. I went last year, in Feb. of 2014, and they took it down... I want to say November of last year. It was only open for two years. I just found the hologram of Jack to be exceedingly awesome. It was so much like he was really there.

IMHO, the only real missed opportunity here is not making that screen also project onto the ceiling, so the viewer is 100% surrounded by sky.

It's hard to tell from the video, and I was able to figure it out when the water spout on the ship happened, but when we saw the show live everyone was unsure whether it was an actor or a projection. We were able to tell it was Johnny Depp, but it looked so real that it threw us off. It IS a projection, but even as we were leaving people in my group were still on the fence. While a lot of the comments are "use an actor" or "use an animatronic" I personally think it would take away from the experience.

No this did not replace the pirates rude at magic kingdom (for those thinking it may have), this is in Disney Hollywood Studios. If you choose to view it when there, make sure you stay to the right of center when being forced shoulder to shoulder into the room. If there is a long wait, deffinately skip it as its not very good. With a few projectors, this is something that the average person with a little knowledge of projection mapping could easily do themselves.

I was so glad to have seen this show, which was essentially a tech demo or proof of concept. In person, I was convinced an amazing physical actor was playing Jack Sparrow. The fingerprints of this show are found all over the parks now - the magic mirror at Enchanted Tales with Belle, the explosions on Rise of the Resistance, the entirety of Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway... heck, I could be wrong, but this show might have predated projection mapping on the castle. A lot of the amazing projection mapping tech that we've seen over the last 10+ years can be traced back to this show.

They've discovered if you run film at double or triple the normal speed (24 fps) you get a much more detailed projection. Unfortunately, you use up a LOT of film.

It's at hollywood studios..if you're going..stay at a disney hotel and get a park hopper..you can go to any park any day as many times as u want..there is also extra magic hrs which let u stay later or go earlier to one park a day...also free busses to and from the parks to anywhere on the disney property..if u need anymore info hit me up..i'm a disney nerd haha

Parents should enjoy it because they're kids are enjoying it. They don't have to like the stuff, it's not for them... The only reason parents have to go is because kids can't go without them. And if the parents aren't still in touch with their inner child then they just shouldn't go, I'm almost 20 and I squeal like a 5 year old when I go to Disney, I'd never think this stuff was childish, I think it's awesome.

I was VERY excited for a second Pirates of The Caribbean attraction with today's technology and the huge success of the franchise, I was almost expecting something to compete with Harry Potter and The Forbidden Journey at IOA...but this thing BLEW... I went last year a couple of weeks after it opened... the projection of Captain Jack Sparrow was great, but that's it! I would rate this a 2/10... waste of time.

They honestly did as much as they could do with the amount of space available in this area.. All it is is really 2 very small rooms. So.. I'm quite impressed with what they could do with that tiny space. Much much better than the narnia experience.

I think considering the wait time to actually get into the atttraction, it was mediocre and not worth it. The best thing about it was Captain Jack hologram though.. it looked very real, like he was really there.. but the entire show itself was missing something. I'm sure it is fun for the kids though
