Dany Bill is widely regarded as one of the smartest, and most accomplished foreign fighters in the history of Muay Thai, beating many of the top Thai fighters during the most competitive era of the sport. While Dany was a natural athlete right from the start, he was not content with his power and athleticism that helped him to dominate his weight class in Europe. He was fascinated with the sheer technical genius of the Thai fighters that were not seen in Europe. To test himself against the best, Dany would spend years training and fighting in the motherland of Muay Thai. In the 90s in Thailand, Muay Thai camps were closely guarded places that were highly wary of outsiders. Many doors were closed to foreigners, and Dany found that it was extremely hard to find trainers who were willing to teach him. To learn the secrets of their techniques, Dany threw himself into the deep at some of the most legendary camps at that time - Jocky Gym and Sityodtong Gym, watching their training, and getting his ass kicked in sparrings with the Thai champs. Dany is full of incredible stories from the golden era of the sport. He even offered tips on what his fight strategy would be, if he was to fight the G.O.A.T. Saenchai. Please excuse the potato quality of the video - Covid times call for unique arrangements. Which legends would you like to see featured next? Very insightful interview. Respect for Monsieur Dany. He went to Thailand during a difficult period and had to earn his knowledge and skills. There wasn't any social media marketing, no real money as this was before the mixed martial arts promotional model. Huge respect for him as he's also not using his first language in this interview and yet is very articulate.

Beautiful. Great fighter and a great person. Awesome insights into the 90's. I'm half Thai and spent holidays in the 80's and 90's with my family in Thailand. Back then I started to read a lot about Muay Thai in magazines (never practiced) and Ramon Dekkers was the big name among European fighters. My family is Thai and everybody knew him. Alongside Ramon were many other great fighters including Danny Bill. First time I see a more in-depth story about him and I loved it. I feel the 90's were more about substance and less money making spectacles. Now we're in an age where money rules and KZbinrs are allowed to enter the arena to claim they're fighters. These kind of videos keep the memories alive when the shit was real. I wish him best of luck with his project in Cameroon. Hopefully he'll get a lot of support from other athletes and Muay Thai fans.

People who dont do martial arts think it's all about fighting and self defence, that's just the beginning. Martial arts in a journey in life, a way for you to discover who you really are. I believe its purest form of humanity there is, we as a species have been fighting since the dawn of time yet no matter how many people any given style can teach you to defeat, it's about bringing people together and fighting for yourself and what you believe in, the philosophy and the amount of wisdom and discipline that comes from martial arts is unrivalled. Martial arts teaches you to be the best version of you, for yourself. Not for the betterment of an organisation like military or security. It teaches you about who you are and who you should be and it guides you towards that goal.
I remember watching his fight against sakmongkol. He lost but he was amazing. A real Champion!

I have a very short list of favorite Muay Thai fighters, but Dany Bill, Samart Payakaroon, and Giorgio Petrosyan are easily the top three. In any boxing sports , it ask a lot of balls to go on the ring , facing someone you don't know . You know only real mans go there test what they worth , test your competence, test your heart against adversity , are you a warrior ? Are you not ? When you go up there now you gonna know and by the noblest way possible , wich means fighting someone with rules , with things that are not possible to do, notwhen is on the floor like MMA can do , it's FAIR for you and him and let the best win...It's not like when you get someone by surprise or that kind of stuff. You need to be a real man to go on the ring , and despite hardships you have to go even if you are not you sure of yourself , if you doubt one thing is sure is you have to give the max.
