This is undoubtedly a story most people are familiar with that Persephone was abducted by Hades, the God of the Underworld. But do you know what happened afterward?
The tale begins when Persephone was wandering through a field of flowers, and suddenly, the ground split open, allowing Hades to seize her and take her to the Underworld. Many believe that’s all there is to the story, but in reality, Hades had fallen in love with Persephone (after being struck by one of Eros's arrows). The powerful god also knew that Demeter, Persephone’s mother would never approve of this union. Therefore, Hades sought Zeus's help, and the entire abduction in the flower field was orchestrated by the king of gods himself. Thus, the story is not merely one of abduction; more than that, it was an arranged marriage orchestrated by Zeus.
