Ppl always complain about a show exposing discrimination and stereotypes but they love to watch shows that uphold said stereotypes. Art imitates life. If you hate hearing about it imagine how ppl who experience it feel! It's like y'all are saying suffering in silence cause you bringing down my vibe...actually...

Racial oppression is not in a few cliche situational stereotypes. Racial oppression is in the mental warfare we as a people experience everyday in a desperate effort to secure some semblance of a natural and whole cultural identity.

You are aware of the body of Issa Rae's work right? She is not reinforcing stereotypes, she is merely illustrating one story that some can relate to. It is not a comprehensive textbook course in racial oppressions, and I do not think it is intended to be so. But it might be less confrontational for less informed audiences (read:White folks who know little about racial injustices) to handle. It is impossible to speak on all types of racial oppression, but in my experience, it is best to illustrate a few experiences very well or else your audience will not hear you.

Love it!! Amazing social commentary. Made me re-evaluate the way I treat black males myself as a black woman. I don't know why we hold these biases - they are dangerous and hurtful. This is incredibly relevant Issa. Thank you!!!

I love how this video depicts how black man are often treated in USA. It's presented in a way where the viewer feels for the character. Unlike most "Black Vines" , which usually mocks black people and reinforce stereotypes about them..

I immediately recognized the Serial podcast playing in the car. Lol But this was very interesting. There are people who actually DO make judgments about your character based on skin color alone. Every person of color may not have had this experience, but it is a very REAL occurrence for some (myself included). I look forward to watching the rest of this.

My favorite part was the Serial Podcast. "I know you ain't do that s**t Adnon." Lmao. Love this series so far. Dude had the worst day ever.

I thought this episode was DOPE. I saw a lot of myself in the main character, I can tell he is a very nice guy, going out of his way not to come off as offensive (I.e. the big smile, higher pitched "work voice", picking up papers the discriminating man dropped, the extra polite way he opens conversations, etc.) But he is still quickly judged as a black. Guy who should be feared. I enjoyed watching it, interested to see where it goes. Shout out to lamine for great acting choices. And the music was great too.

That is so real! I did that job for ONE day, and I did get 6 donations on a college campus, but my boyfriend barely got 3 and they wanted us to try to get at least 5 starting out, so he was done. I did get 55 dollars for 3-4 hours of work since we had to cut the day short due to terrible weather, so it wasn't a complete loss. The way dude was looking at him when he got out of the truck had me dyin'! OMG! KMSLOL!

@KittyGirlAeriss10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the help! "Pretty Dope" was also a song I really liked, so thanks for posting your song. ^_^
As a person of mixed race, I have never really felt that discriminated against, I live in the U.K. and I see stuff in the media about racism in other parts of the world like the U.S. and I feel that being fed that loads of racists are out there to get me etc... has really warped my view of the world. When I go out I'm constantly on guard for racism even when no one bats and eyelid at me. Another thing I'd like to add is that I'm in an all white circle of friends and I feel that a lot of people including my friends feel that using stereotypes, thinking saying the n-word is okay and a whole lot of other stuff is completely fine, it sucks, this stuff is not fine or funny. In the future if you think about using a stereo type or doing anything like that, just don't, it is not gonna do any good to anyone.
