Bolin is basically the fandom when it comes to the OG characters! Jinora watching helplessly as Kai is blown out of the sky and falls to his death reminded me of Katara watching helplessly as Aang was electrocuted and fell to his death as well. Now you know what an airbending amateur looks like against a real airbending master. Tenzin not only was putting actual hits on Zaheer (Zaheer couldn't even touch him), but he was holding his own pretty well when it became a 4v1 thing. Tenzin: As long as I'm breathing, it's not over Me: Don't give him ideas!! *hyperventilates*

Zaheer has leverage against other fighters because no on is accustomed to fighting against airbending(Aang also had this advantage). When fighting against an actual airbending master, you can tell he was losing.

No, it was stated that Zaheer could kill masters even without his powers, and with them he killed several of them at the same time. People don't see to realize how powerful Tenzin really is, the title "master" doesn't mean nothing, his daughter a week later receive that title and she is a joke in front of his father and his grandfather at 12. Tenzin is a top tier and probably one of the strongest airbender in history, he is not just the average airbender master that where killed by the firebenders.

Leijona Oneiroi Monk Gyatso would be the best. Aang straight up calls him as such, and you see over a dozen fire nation skeletons around his own. Meaning he was able to take on several COMET ENHANCED firebenders by himself. Plus, while Zaheer is strong, Tenzin, Sokka, Zuko, and Tonraq all still best the four main Red Lotus members. He’s deadly, but he’s not unbeatable, as shown with that and this fight against Tenzin.

A huge part of his arc was his getting over that, in fact. He’s loyal to the Avatar because he knows what the Avatar represents and that’s something he believes in protecting whole heartedly.

in reality throughout the series regular martial artists have been shown to be able to dominate benders. since benders focus on bending and not the actual martial aspects. once an expert martial artist gains bending they should dominate every bender.

You can clearly see in Zaheer vs Tenzin fight that actual airbending is more efficient than violent type of airbending that Zaheer uses. Although Airlack Bubble is quite OP, airbending is never about offence. Thats why I love airbending the most. Oh and you can fly, that too.

5:50 Mmhm. I recall one of the things the animation deserves and was given due praise for was the way they authentically depicted a teenage, female, muscular growing body with Korra. I mean, I already friggin' loved Korra's appearance, from the very first promotional images they showed of the show, when it was premiering. A (teenage), tastefully buff tomboy. I tend to like those female characters the most. Ones who lack a certain amount of what is considered feminine qualities and have a few that are considered masculine ones, instead. Of course, what is feminine or masculine is (becoming) entirely subjective. And that's a good thing. I mean, most probably wouldn't consider e.g.: a tomboyish, foul-mouthed, physically really strong, somewhat ripped, hot-tempered girl to be very feminine. But, then...of course, it depends on how we define our expectations of what's "feminine". In video-games, wherever I get the chance, I go for large swords or halberds with a female character. Now, a lot of people wouldn't consider a female character wielding large weapons like that to be feminine or even convincing or interesting.

Tenzin had the edge on Zaheer before the rest of his gang intervened. It's also important to note that yes, while Bumi, Kaya, and Tenzin are Aang's kids, they are also kinda old. Had they been in their prime, the fight would have been much more even and they probably would have won

There's always that one episode of each season, where shit hits the fan, and this episode is where shit REALLY hits the fan! It's great to see the reunion of Team Avatar, as well as the return of Iroh in this episode, but that's just a temporary calm before the shitstorm! The new Air Nation gets captured and held hostage, and the Red Lotus square off against Tenzin and his siblings! Tenzin was definitely the superior airbender, but he got jumped and overpowered. Also, I've seen many fans compare Kai to Jason Todd, but he even gets blown up in this episode! However, unlike Jason, Kai survived. Just a heads-up, the final two episodes of Book 3 will be mind-blowing, shocking, and earth-shattering!

Masterful & experienced Airbending vs raw & prodigous Airbending. Tenzin displays more poise and technique while Zaheer displays more ingenuity and raw athleticism.

With how important the Airbender are to this season they wouldn’t kill Tenzin. The Red Lotus also doesn’t want to necessarily kill everyone either, they just want him as leverage probably for Korra. She’s their main target and Zaheer wouldn’t just kill Tenzin. That’s not his goal. Remember he believed himself to be just and spiritual so mindlessly killing Tenzin wouldn’t solve anything

As great as the fight between Tenzin and Zaheer is, it was too short. This was the ONLY time we'll ever see two airbenders in a full blown duel, and it was a brief one. This should have been on the scale of Korra vs Unalaq, or the Crossroads of Destiny battle.

Korra didn’t resonate with me super well until this episode And now Tenzin had me crying Recall what Aang said as the moon spirit died and all hope what lost, quite similar to what Tenzin said here. “No, it’s not over.” This whole fight was a battle for everything Aang worked for
