i love Su Yin... she might have been the first mentor(ish)-figure Korra met that doesn't coddle her and always trusted that Korra can just handle things. Not that Tenzin/Lin or other mentors were wrong, but i think Su's immediate trust in Korra shows that they met at a point in Korra's character growth where her judgment and ability can be trusted and respected.

Exactly. Especially what you said about Su meeting Korra at the right time in her character growth. I think what also helps is that Su Yin see and respects Korra as the Avatar. While everyone else was "We dONt nEED an UHvatAR!! Booo go home111!" which seeded a lot of self-doubt in Korra, add that with being micro-managed.. Su Yin is the one cheering Korra on like "Girl you're the Avatar! You got this!" she instills that comfort, confidence, and reassurance Korra needs/desires. I love interactions between Korra/Su Yin and Korra/Jinora.

P'li is ranged DPS, Gazaan is AOE damage and CC on top of normal earth bending tanking, and water arms has utility and a mix of defense and offense. Zaheer is the party leader that keeps track of everyone's cooldowns.

I always like the logical progression of bending types in Avatar. The nations start mixing and all of a sudden there are a lot of kids who have one firebender parent and one earthbender parent who end up being able to lavabend. Consistent world building is delicious.

The Terror Within" was the last episode of Book Three: Change to debut on television, as the remaining five episodes premiered online through several digital platforms before airing on Nicktoons during the week of October 6, 2014. This is the only episode in which P'Li is seen generating normal fire. Lin's use of the phrase "third-eyed freak" mirrors Katara's when she described Combustion Man in "The Runaway". Each series of Avatar we learn more about the world and the 'elemental bending arts/system' (i don't have a name for it yet). Aiwe at his core is an Earthbender, who commonly uses metal-bending. He's another character we see who is an advanced Bender of their respective sub-bending category. Aiwe uses the sensory technique that we've seen Toph and Lin use to 'feel' whether someone is lying or not by monitoring their heart beat and vibration. And P'Li, a Firebender who is skilled in projecting fire from her third eye tat by concentrating her element into an explosive beam - telekinetic bending. (Imo she's more refined in skill than Sparky Boom Man because as we saw in this episode she can curve her beam mid-air; impressive) Also, her tattoo design being different may mean she's higher up in mastery or probably just means she's of a different tribe/clan than Sparky Boom Man, we've only seen two of their kind so far. This-like other advanced techniques of sub-bending (Amon's Blood-bending as another example)-requires a precise & concentrated chi flow. I love seeing how whether one is skilled in martial arts or spirituality, the element you possess can adapt and evolve with you.

One of my favourite fights in the series. Cornering the enemies and getting into a stalemate shoot out is something you don't normally see in these martial arts-based fights. Even though they snuck in, they had help, after all, Zaofu earns its reputation as the safest city by responding quickly and actually standing up against Zaheer and his team.

I love the ideas this season introduced, but I didn't like much how OP lava and combustion bending are. Once watching a documentary on eastern weapons, they talked about how each weapon has a balance between reach, power and control, the more power, the less reach, the more reach the less control and so on. The point of combustion bending is that they give up control for maximum reach and power, once she fires P'Li shouldn't be able to change the trajectory, that's why is important for her to aim, and it kind of breaks the worlds balance. It's something similar with lava bending, it's overpower without cost, Szeto should lose control of earth when he turns it to lava, that way he has to be creative and careful when using it, making it just as powerful, but giving his character a chance to be more than just the tough type, by showing his creative side. Also, sadly there is no theme behind lava bending, it was just something cool(it is indeed extremely cool). Metal bending is about seeing beyond illusions, Lightning bending about being cold and calculating and Blood bending about driven by anger and revenge. A cool theme to add another dimension would be to add recklessness to lava bending. Anyway, still one of the best seasons of Korra
