Good to see Kuvira back in actions and I loved how she had self confidence to call Suyin for help cuz Suyin was there for her once and now she came to help her which is good and my funny character is Toph legend always 🤣

This was interesting. Asami wouldn't listen to Kuvira and she and the Republic City brothers paid the price for it. Didn't see this coming. The Earth Kingdom royal family is SO messed up. They're about as bad as the Fire Nation was between Sozin and Ozai. Wu still feels insecure about his power and usefulness :(. Good to know even at her worst, Kuvira wouldn't have sunken as low as the Dai Li. She was just WAY too sure of herself. And her ex helped with the modern brainwashing,....next part's gonna be interesting. And that's before getting into WHY they're exes. Kuvira's outfit reminds me of Danton from Shardlight. Hope we get more flashbacks next time. We FINALLY saw how Su and Kuvira met. Next one up'll be a GOOD time to pull out all the stops as reasonably as possible. Not surprised at Toph's reluctance. Gaoling's a source of painful memories for her. Even if long ago she made amends with her dad and longer ago moved on from there. Police forces aren't always political, but I wonder why she decided to become a cop in the first place. Do we find this out here? Or in a future ATLA comic? Yeah, Aang and Zuko had to be politically involved, and the Southern Tribe duo had more freedom to choose. Though one of them had to take over as Chief after Hakoda, and it was Sokka. Katara likely chose to be involved for her own reasons AND to support Aang. Governor Toph Bei Fong. She'll be one not soon forgotten. Not surprised Wu knows about the Dai Li debacle from Kuei's time. It IS his family's history, AND he spent all that time preparing to be King himself. The thing with Su and Kuvira is just like with Korra and Zaheer. In each case, the latter majorly screwed over the former, and now they have to put aside their issues to take down a common enemy. Yeah, there's a BUNCH to unpack between Kuvira and the Bei Fongs, and it'll be interesting to see how that plays out. Asami's been saved, but there's still the brothers, and now poor Wu :(. Great 2nd part. I'm itching for the finale. Also, loved the part where Opal fell asleep on Toph's lap. They've got a special bond ^_^. One unlike the one she has with her brothers and even her mom and aunt.

I think the comic trilogy "Imbalance" will help with as to why Toph became involved with the police. In short, tensions between benders and nonbenders were going hot.

It's embarrassing how bad the comics are. They always mess stuff up what's already canon in the show. Like Toph's hearing. And OH, you're against brainwashing Kuvira? Well, okay, that TOTALLY makes up for your actions in creating and using a weapon of mass destruction. You're so redeemed now! NOT! Seriously, Avatar comics are trash.
@GreatUniter4 жыл бұрын
What's wrong with creating and using a superweapon? The U.S and many other nations of the "free-world" created and utilized super weapons. Her being against brainwashing makes her complex, it doesnt wash her hands of the atrocities she already commited. She was honestly like any other great leader in history. The greatest leaders in human history aren't remembered for their moral aptitude they are remembered for their accomplishments. Napoleon for example is considered a great leader even though he reinstituted slavery. Many of the greatest tyrants in our time had certain lines they would never cross or had extremely progressive policies for their time. Gheghis Khan ensured religious freedom in his empire and Mongol women were allowed to be warriors. He even raised a child that was highly suspected to not even be his. Hitler and the Nazis believed in animals rights and had the anti-smoking campaigns. However that doesn't excuse the atrocities they committed.

@@GreatUniter Because the narrative wants us to sympathize with her and make it seem like she didn't do anything wrong and just handwave her wrongdoings as "good intentions". It's rushed and hard to take seriously and basically just reads out as a Kuvira apologist fanfic.
@GreatUniter4 жыл бұрын
@@RaidPirateGaming The narrative is not doing that at all. No one has forgiven and forgotten the atrocities she committed. They barely even trust her. She even had a trial were they listed off her offenses. She's only out of prison due to a former remnant of her Earth Empire causing trouble. Kuvira did have good intentions at the start but she went to far. Toph herself in Book 4 even stated that all the villains started off with noble goals or good intentions but went to far as they were completely out of balance to begin with. If it weren't for Kuvira they wouldn't even be having elections as the EK would still be chaos. In a way she's a lot like Zuko who committed atrocities to regain his honor and gain his father's love. Zuko helped with the coup in Ba Sing Se and helped Azula kill Aang which nearly destroyed the Avatar Cycle. In the end he gets the throne and doesn't have to pay for his crimes.

@@GreatUniter "The narrative is not doing that at all. No one has forgiven and forgotten the atrocities she committed. They barely even trust her. She even had a trial were they listed off her offenses. " I'll elaborate. We the READERS are suppose to sympathize with Kuvira. You can tell from the writing that Bryke's intention is to make Kuvira a protagonist and we're supposed to forgive her willy nilly because she's helping out now. "She's only out of prison due to a former remnant of her Earth Empire causing trouble." That's something Korra should've done by herself. She's supposed to be the Avatar. Instead she's taken the 'B' plot on talking to Toph. Something that should've been assigned to her friends. Kuvira shouldn't be needed. Only reason she came back is because Mike and Bryan have a hard on for her. "Kuvira did have good intentions at the start but she went to far" Yes. And she should pay with that in spending the rest of her life in prison like Ozai. "If it weren't for Kuvira they wouldn't even be having elections as the EK would still be chaos." It was Wu abdicating the throne that led to elections. Kuvira intended on being the emperor. Dictators by definition wouldn't hold elections. She had nothing to do with the Earth Kingdom's shift to democracy.
@GreatUniter4 жыл бұрын
@@RaidPirateGaming We the readers don't have to sympathize with Kuvira like you doing right now. The writers are simply showing she is a complicated person (with a rather unpleasant past) who set out help her nation when no else would step up and restore order. She went too far, realized her methods were morally wrong even if they were pragmatic, and turned herself in. She is now given the opportunity to right thing just like Zuko. We don't have to forgive her. Did you forget the writers of the first series did the same thing with Zuko who helped Azula in her coup and kill the Avatar and destroy the Avatar Cycle. He is later shown in a more sympathetic light as the series progresses and is allowed to have the throne despite the atrocities he committed when in reality he should been thrown in prison along with Iroh who murdered countless people in Ba Sing Se when he tried to conquer it for the Fire Nation. So what if Korra is the Avatar? The Avatar still needs help. What could she have done since Gaun is doing things legally. Zuko was not needed to restore balance to the world. The only reason they left her out of prison was so she could try to convince the rest of her forces to stand down so they resolve the situation in a more peaceful manner when that failed they locked her back her and was about to send her back to prison Wu would have never gotten a chance to even get the throne if it weren't for Kuvira who reunited the EK so he could have a throne in the first place. If Kuvira never went out to restore order the EK wouldn't even be stable enough for elections. Do honestly think Wu could hold elections when there were bandits running amok and there being no form of centralized government? The comic even does a great thing in that it is not wise to rush a state that was autocratic for all its existence into a democracy and analyzes the weaknesses of democracy through Gaun who only has a chance to rebuild and legitimize the Earth Empire through the elections. What is wrong with a dictatorship? it's not that different from a monarchy the only democratic country in the Avatar world is the United Republic which has only been democratic for 3 years. The other nations are still autocratic.
