This is one of the most inspiring, encouraging short stories I've ever heard. It adds a little depth to it when you find out who Feathertop is and what happened to him. Feathertop was brought to life by a witch, and using a magical pipe to disguise himself as a human, he had to run some errands for the witch in town. In town he fell in love with a human girl, whom he eventually wanted to marry. Though once the girl found out Feathertop was a scarecrow by seeing that his reflection in a mirror revealed his true self, she fainted. Feathertop, never knowing what he was, was so shocked by his true self that he ran home, threw the pipe away and ended his own life. Upon seeing this, the witch ends the story with something like "Most people cannot or don't want to see that they're beautifully dressed and disguised piles of rubbish."
