Opening the door naked was one of Laura’s best improv moments. A pure master class indeed. I highly recommend watching a table to screen for it 😂

The delivery of "As you like" is more gentle and caring than a hundred big swooping romantic moments I've seen in media. It lives in my head rent free forever. Vex still wordlessly reaches for Percy, and he is so gentle with her fear.

The orb is what was related to the Briarwoods, she didn't so much commune with it as she created it trying to quickly finish that big ritual they were planning Laura Bailey brought this on, it happened on the table, it's a power move

I just realised that the Chroma Conclave totally remind me of the Decepticons. Thordak's treatment of Raishan is pure Megatron and Starscream vibes.
@nyanbrox5418Ай бұрын
I had this exact thought, star scream is clearly weaker than megatron, but also a snake who would just as quickly subvert him if he could, and the only reason he doesn't kill megatron and take his place is because he would get oneshot Also, similar to megatron and starscream, raishan has all the utility, in this case teleportation, while Star scream could turn into a Jet Also megatron and thordak are just huge physically Yeah, it's a nice comparison, I swear Star scream even had an episode in transformers prime where he was like "joining the autobots" because he was going to die otherwise Very nice

To your question at the end, the overall outline is the same, but they are changing how the pieces fit together. The Briarwood arc from Season 1 was pretty much an abridged version of that arc from the campaign, but they have made more significant changes in Seasons 2 and 3. Other comments have/will mention the differences with Draconia. In the campaign, they went to Ank'harel to get Cabal's Ruin (the cloak Vestige). The Plate of the Dawnmartyr was in the Plane of Fire and they found out about it from Kamaljiori (the sphynx from last season). Not to go into much detail, but the character they were told has it in Dis didn't exist during Campaign 1 (more details on them in a future episode).

Having watched campaign 1, this season is the most different. I've appreciated all the changes, most of them make sense both story-wise and as a matter of adaptation. There's a big moment later in the season that got me emotional, even though I knew it was coming, and they changed parts of it but kept the spirit of it the same. Vex and Percy are 100% campaign true though, that came right from the table.

Love this season so much. The visions of hell have just started. Next episode is pretty dark. Have watched through episode 9 myself. So much incredible work! I have some theories but I won't share them as they have lots of spoilers. yes the story has diverged from the game by quire a bit.

To be fair, it's not immediately apparent. Her gruff personality in the show suggests dwarf, and her armor makes her seem much more stocky.

This show follows the events of campaign 1 which ended years ago. They’re currently in campaign 3. They’ve made a bunch of changes to the story for the show, so even us Critical Role veterans are surprised by some of the events of the show. For instance, the red Dragonborn in the show didn’t exist. Although I have a suspicion that it was a nod to a player who was kicked from the group for inappropriate behavior. The character was also a red Dragonborn who had a thing for Allura.
@whoviancapaldi1732Ай бұрын
It’s so great to see people get to experience the world of Critical Role through this show! This season, things have diverted from the story the most compared to previous seasons. However, every episode includes concrete plot points of the campaign in some way or another since there’s SO much material to pull from. The show takes creative liberties, but most of the big through lines of the OG streams of the D&D campaign seems to stay the same. It’s a masterclass in engaging adaptations imo. We know what will happen, but not always how things happen or paced.
@TrainerJoshBАй бұрын
Most of us are guessing that she was supposed to represent Tiberius Stormwind aka Orion Acaba who uh "left" very early in campaign one. He was a toxic D&D player and had a massive crush on Allura in the game and got mad when he found out about Kima and Allura. There are a couple videos out on KZbin explaining everything.

Yes the evil spinning orb of death in the intro is what's under Whitestone post-Briarwood. The bird that poops on Percy is a titmouse, like the studio doing the animation for the show, which has amused me way too much since I realized that. And yes, we who saw C1 know more, though they are changing up timelines and even some full out story beats, so I'm still kept guessing to a degree, even if I don't find the changes quite as major as some others do and think they really are following the spirit of it well.
@eastersliceАй бұрын
At this point, the story is diverging a little, but not by much. SPOILER LABEL FOR THE CAMPAIGN Originally, Vorugal was settled in Draconia, much like Umbrasyll was in Westruun last season. Dohla didn't appear in the campaign, although she was mentioned (I think?) as one of Allura and Kima's former adventure companions. The party went to Draconia in order to scout out the area and plan an attack against Vorugal. There was no Hell portal near the city. This is the show streamlining the sprawling story, combining locations and trimming NPC character arcs. The spirit, though, remains the same. The producers are well aware of what the most important story beats are, and also the beats that fans will riot over if they aren't included. Vex opening that door is one of those beats.
@uffish2Ай бұрын
I'm not sure if this has been explained or not, so just in case: the three campaigns. A "campaign" is the collective adventures a group plays together with a set of characters. Critical Role is in the middle of their third, having wrapped up the first (Vox Machina) and second (Mighty Nein). So the cartoon won't be catching up to what people who watch the show "know" anytime soon, if ever. They're going to do a Mighty Nein cartoon, and I wonder if they're laying groundwork in case there's a campaign three one as well, but that seems way too early to speculate on with any accuracy. The differences we see are just adaptational. We expect the individual characters will have roughly the same endings, but there's new and slightly changed stuff along the way. And maybe they WILL revise the ultimate fate of a main character. It seems unlikely, but possible.
@OzgarthefighterАй бұрын
Talesin had intended the moment between Vex and Percy to be more romantic. Laura, on the other hand, had other ideas. Dhola the dragonborn is a series original character that might have been based around another players character that was removed from the Canon. It's a long story, but short version is the player did things at the table and behind the scenes which didn't go over well with the group so they parted ways.
@user-jt1js5mr3fАй бұрын
These first three were just ok for me, I enjoyed them but they didn’t wow me. Episodes 4-9 have been straight fire though. The narrative that the show is adapting is complete and those who have watched the show essentially know the major beats that we will see. However, they have made changes in order to adapt it, and some of those changes have still provided great surprises. Such as we knew they’d go to hell, but they had us encounter a character that was a big shift and EXTREMELY cool for those who know. It also makes sense because it relates to another campaign they’ll likely adapt in the future, so they’re also setting foundations in a very smart way
@MrNydenАй бұрын
This season begins to divert from the streams more than the previous two, and it gets more pronounced the deeper we get. This is not a bad thing - It certainly is keeping things interesting for us long time fans but it means that, increasingly, we don't know much more than you do. One of the cool things it allows them to do is dig into the secondary NPC's more than we ever saw in the live streams. Allura and Kima were characters we didn't really get to know much about and we rarely saw in a fight because Matt doesn't want his NPC's to overshadow the players. But, because of the adaptation, they're allowed to take center stage and really get a chance to shine once in a while.

adding to this, dwarf women have beards, gnomes have pointed ears (scanlan & pike), since kima has neither she is a halfling
@jesterstyr4584Ай бұрын
@@KaraOni13 The only dwarf I remember so far in the series had no beard what so ever, and was male. So presumably a beard is not necissary for female dwarves. But they'd(dwarven women) would be generally stalkier than other races. On the other hand, I can see why Kima could be mistaken for a dwarf because of her stalkiness.
