kobolds, orcs and similar is labeled as demihumans. tallfolk, halffoots, elves, dwarves, gnomes and even oni/ogres are "humans" in this world. the main thing to determine this is the number of bones in the body. kobolds and orcs got less or extra bones then the others. oni/ogres despite their looks have same as the others with the horns on their head is not a separate bone, it grows from the skull itself.
@coolkiller32253 күн бұрын
almost correct. the categorization is mostly based in culture and prejudice. different regions consider different races differently, and really the number of bones thing is just an excuse to label certain people as 'not quite human'. if it wasn't bones, it would be something else (very similar to how white people used to hold up as fact that black people had a different skull shape and as such were less advanced. which is, well, very untrue and just an excuse to treat others poorer). there's a conversation between kabru and toshiro's people at some point in extra stuff where this is talked about, but some of it is a bit subtle

I think what people ment to say is that some of the details of events have gone different than they went at the table, so we have less idea of what to expect. There is 2 other years long campaigns waiting to be adaptad, as well as one more arc for vox machina

So this season took a big detour in one part from the campaign but I trust the cast’s choices since it was a reasonable change. And nothing big wont really change when it comes to the conflict in s4. We are getting season 4 of Vox Machina but most likely in Q4 of this year or early next year. We also have their next campaign in the works for being animated, the “Mighty Nein” but nothing other than the announcement teaser, an a official release of an Animatic (scene rough draft) featuring two of the party members but its predicted to launch this year of 2025 (so tlovm will most likely be here next year) since a Polygon interview in October titled “We asked the Critical Role cast the meanest question we could think of” had Travis/CR CEO/Grog’s Creator and VA say the show was “definitely more than halfway done” in addition to being fully written as well so the script is LOCKED IN. 🤩

Whoever told you this show has gotten further than CR’s campaign is a very misinformed person 😅 we’ve hardly scratched the surface even in this one campaign, and there’s still 2 more whole campaigns that are finished (as of this coming Thursday, anyway) and a couple big mini-campaign events we could see at some point, too. The CR crew could never do another campaign (which, they will, campaign 4 should start in a few months) and never work on another project again, and we’d all spend the rest of our lives with new critical role tv shows coming out just based on the actual play stuff they’ve already done 😄

Laios' waving the pen (and later, his hands) is read as stimming by many autistic fans! Stimming can be done to help regulate or display emotion, process thoughts, etc!
@badgerdax176310 күн бұрын
As usual your analyses are spot on, nice job catching so many details I've seen others completely overlook. In the manga, it is revealed in a side panel who's conjuring is based on who's perspective. Laios' was covered thanks to his lack of perception to detail on other people. Chilchuck's perspective created the giant Laios, the handsome Senshi (apparently, dwarves are considered handsome by half-foot society standards), and the Marcille with incorrect book details. Senshi's perspective created the ugly Marcille (dwarves consider elves to be creepy/unsettling), the baby-faced Chilchuck, and the Falin-faced Laios. Marcille meanwhile created the mindless Laios, and the incorrect equipment versions of Chilchuck and Senshi. The most interesting one to me however is Laios's perception of Marcille; the one with the long hair and dedication to Falin. Apparently, the memory of Marcille taking her hair down when performing the spell to ressurect Falin became such a strong memory for him that it altered his perception of her. There are several side books full of shorts and world lore for the series that I really wish could be integrated into the show more, but I'd seriously recommend them in the future when the show's done and over with. Some of the best and most interesting information can be found in those extras! It really shows just how fleshed out the story and world was made by the mangaka.
@teamaster80046 сағат бұрын
🤓 Actually, Chilchuck created the crazy drooling Laios, Marcille created the tall one with stubble. The author explained that after years of Falin telling her stories of her brother, she imagined in her head that he’d look exactly like her (because elves have super low sexual dimorphism). As a result, when she met him for the first time she was shocked by his appearance, so even now all of his traits that don’t resemble Falin stick out like a sore thumb. theres even a small sketch in a bonus chapter that shows Marcille’s perspective when meeting him for the first time, with the freakishly tall Laios juxtaposed with a thought bubble showing what she imagined he’d look like.

Fun fact from the manga: The "Handsome Squidward" Marcille is from Senshi's memory. It's from his childhood- elves are used as sort of "bogeymen" in dwarven culture. Thus, he sees her as creepy.
