Host picked Locker because he agreed with him, but Low clearly argued his point better. Low even said "I agree the Lakers can do it but what about the other teams?" and Locker kept talking about the Lakers... Anyway, was fun watching. Thing is it's not about either/or but who does both things well. Locker used the chance of draft picks becoming all stars as an argument, but like Low said you can fail when trading as well. Some players change teams and don't are a shell of them former self. My personal opinion is that drafting good is way more important for long term success, but obviously both is needed.

You people didn’t even understand Locker room was right. At the end of the day. You are still trading regardless of if you use draft picks. Period
@victoralexander37678 ай бұрын
No, what YOU don’t understand is that you can’t name ONE modern team that was comprised of ALL trades and signings or even ALL draft picks. You have to utilize a mixture of both simply because of the nature of the beast. Either you draft a Superstar generational talent and trade for some role players or you draft ex superstars and role players and sign superstars… the real question is does a draft pick that you trade for count as a draft or a trade ie Kobe, Scottie, Bill Russell. Rudy was traded for a bunch of picks plus players… so simultaneously that would count as a trade AND a draft. They gave up a great player in order to draft one or two. BUT… LOW was right because YES teams with great markets may find it easier to signing and trading BUT the majority of the teams in NBA history aren’t big markets! Soooooo the easier thing for them to do is draft!
@josephhandy87678 ай бұрын
@@victoralexander3767I don’t think it’s easier for small market teams to draft because if they could draft well, then more of them would be champions or been to the Finals. It’s not easier to build a championship team through the draft because you will always need to trade and sign free agents to get you over the top. The Nuggets are a perfect example. Their core 2 was together 7 years, core 3 together 5 years before they won a chip. They won last season because of all their role players they got in free agency and trades. That’s always been the method to building championship squads. Most teams maybe have 2-3 players max they drafted on a championship teams and the other 4-5 players may be free agents
@jrthehunter43098 ай бұрын
In my opinion, LOW killed it with that Anthony Davis point. The Lakers would not have been able to trade for Anthony Davis if they had not DRAFTED Lonzo, Ingram, and Hart. The warriors would not have been able to obtain KD in Free Agency if Curry, Klay, and Draymond were not STILL on there rookie deal/extension for the team that DRAFTED them. The foundation is ALWAYS the most important and effective part of building anything.
@josephhandy87678 ай бұрын
@@jrthehunter4309 the foundation for the Lakers winning a chip literally wasn’t their draft picks lol. The only players they drafted on that team that played was Caruso and Kuz lol. Everybody else was a free agent or trade. So when we saying effective, we saying the most efficient way to get there. If it takes the Lakers 2 seasons essentially to make a championship team, vs a Denver who took 7 years to make a championship team, how is that more effective? Lol, I get it y’all like LOW. But u can’t say something that takes 5 more years to manifest is more efficient lol. That’s literally the opposite of the definition lol
@josephhandy87678 ай бұрын
@@jrthehunter4309 or even with the GS example, that took 5-6 years to make them a championship team building thru the draft. The Cavs literally were a championship team the very first year thru a trade and free agency lol.

@janitorialjargon24118 ай бұрын
@@ishowspeedplug2845because one aspect can be kind of applicable to all the teams in the NBA while winning a championship pertains to only a select few. If it's about winning a chip then of course trades/free agency are the way to go because you already have everything established but all you need is something to get over the hump. For example like Kawahi going to the Raptors or Porzingus going to the Celtics. But if you are BUILDING that means you don't have much to work with and the best way to build without sacrificing much is through the draft. Everyone has a chance to scout talent and to find hidden gems while knowing the risk of the pick not panning out.
@donovanpipkins4088 ай бұрын
@@ishowspeedplug2845the difference is if you’re talking about the best WAY to build a team you’re just talking about building a good team at least playoff contenders not a championship team. When and even so the fact still remains the draft is obviously the best way look at the top teams top 8 teams in both conferences all of their best players or second best players were all drafted to the team. The point low is making is we don’t know what these teams would look like without those key draft picks. Like golden state, yes they got Andrew Wiggins and he was very good for defense but could he become a number 1 or 2 option like Jordan Poole did? Forget the playoffs yall forget Poole was apart of the reason they made it to the playoffs in the first place the BIGGEST reason if we being real. Not because of Andrew Wiggins. When the last time you seen the timber wolves this high in the seeding? A long time…..now they number three cause of Anthony Edwards’s someone whom they drafted. The Celtics been playoff contenders since they got Tatum And Brown and even if it’s about being championship contenders(and I’m just going off seeding when I say this as far as technical contenders) the fact STILL remains without the team drafting a Jokic, Tatum, Curry, Giannis, Ant, Chet you’re not in the runnings anyway.

That was an impressive debate by the locker room. That was surgical. Very straight to the point. He followed rules of debate to the T without much logical fallacies. He gave examples, backed up his argument with facts. He was well researched for this debate and gave solid examples. That was easy. In his closing remarks, he referenced the debate topic. It was almost like he red it from a paper because of how well it was done. 👏 To say that KD went to the suns due to the drafting of booker, is a terribly premise. He went there because booker was there, it doesn't matter if it was through draft or not.
@temo70738 ай бұрын
That 2017 draft argument didn’t make sense bc even if you don’t redraft, all those players other than OG still went in the lottery. And if anything Fultz and Lonzo failed more-so from injuries than lack of skill. Just bc they didn’t go 1st or 2nd doesn’t mean they weren’t highly touted guys.

The Spurs of the early 2000's are the unicorns because they hit big on Tim Duncan Tony Parker Manu Ginobili & Kawhi Leonard in their respective drafts
