Zelda is such a beloved character, even though she isn’t the main character, it's amazing. If they made a list, she would probably be at the top of the 'most recognized non-playable characters in the world.' And all this fame makes sense, I remember as a kid, playing OOT, thinking how no matter what happened, no matter what I faced, I had to save her. And here we are now, with her first game, and she's the one who will showcase all her skills, our dear Zelda. I just think she deserved an open-world game like BOTW, but that's okay, what we have here is also an excellent start.

1 and 2 are interesting. Apocalyptic in a very different way than BOTW/TOTK. Brutally hard. A world absolutely savaged by Ganon (after fully degenerating into a monster) and inhabited by nomads and hermits. If any of the Zelda eras were suited to Soulslike gameplay, it would be that one.

PS5 Pro basically doubled as a commercial for Nintendo. Whether it's to get a Switch for the new Zelda & Mario games, or wait it out for the Switch 2. Nintendo must be giddy with the opportunity.

I can't say whether BOTW is good for that style of game, but it is a terrible Zelda game. Sorry, but it is a fact. Too big of world with nothing to do after a while. Their should have been many DLCs to fill it up. Not replayable at all for a Zelda experience. This 2D game looks great, though. Dungeons!

Zelda was already a playable character in Spirit Tracks: a mainline Zelda game from 2009.
