I honestly think this game deserves every single award it's been nominated for. I know people want to spread the love, and they want different kinds of games to win goty (even though every game nominated is a sequel in award-winning series'), Tears of the Kingdom is an extraordinary game in every respect. The story felt underwhelming considering the 6 years worth of theories and hype building up to release so i wouldn't agree that it deserves _all_ of them if the Awards involve the writing and storytelling. @@mlgcactus1035 The difference is that Baldur's Gate 3 is something we have already seen with basically the same gameplay as other Larian games. TotK might have the same world as BotW, but the gameplay is something that was never done before in gaming and it feels amazing.

I think it genuinely deserves the award tbh. It surprisingly feels so different from Botw but still similar and just as fun. It’s a beautiful art style that veers away from the commonly sought after realism which is nice in a game, and it Honestly does exactly what I hoped for, maybe better, and this is coming from somebody who’s 100% the game, and done two play throughs so far.

I agree definitely (although there’s more than one composer). Anyway, my personal favourite is Koji Kondo. He did basically all the soundtracks of Zelda until BotW. Most notably, the Ocarina Of Time and Majora’s Mask soundtracks.

Tears of the Kingdom has been a stellar game this year. The only thing that saddens me is that Octopath Traveler II didn’t even get nominated for best score this year. It’s quite unbelievable, as that soundtrack Yasunori Nishiki helped compose is absolutely out of this world and perfect for every single character.

In the game awards the score and music category is mostly filled with games that have "movie like" music or just a music based game. It's pretty rare that there is a game that just have banger music and gets nominated. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was the exception last year. Heck, they never nominated a Pokemon game for that category and pokemon mostly have bangers after bangers

i was really hoping for this to win, but i knew inside of me it wouldn't. i think the game awards have negative bias towards nintendo, since theyre a "kids" company. most highly successful games in tga are all t for teen and above. bg3 probably deserved it, but i never played it. seeing how things went throughout tga, alan wake 2 probably would've been their second pick for goty, and totk the third.

I hope this will be the GOTY cuz It was definitely one of the best zelda experiences I've ever had (probably my 2nd favourite zelda game), It was really an Amazing game. It was great in all aspects, and better in BOTW in everything as the ennemies, the dungeons (even if they could have been better ngl), the bosses, the quests, the music, the storytellig/characters, the exploration, the shrines,... The only issue (there's others but this is the biggest one for sure) is that sometimes It looks too much like botw in some aspects so because of that people may not consider It the best game, but imo It is. And if I cried in a video game It definitely means that It holds a special place in my heart. So Totk is GOATED

Kinda agree but this similarity doesn't stop at looking similar, it creates more of a disconnect when A/ they didn't bother much with continuity (either with BOTW or older games) as to not alienate new players and B/ it goes for a more epic story built for linear delivery but is forced to fit BOTW's non-linear memory format, which hurts both story content and impact. Sky islands are a let down, the depths are a great surprise but quickly boring. Devices are cool but wildlife is completely overshadowed. World building is basically Zonai ruins _everywhere_ as foundation for this Hyrule, while not really explaining anything. Gameplay still amazing, crazy mechanics but also shows they had to retrofit into a world built with another purpose. The sage abilities and some menus are unnecessarily really messy. Great moments but I had a much better overall experience with BOTW's novelty and simplicity.

They were saying in my Survey of Games class that it is amazing how Nintendo put Breath of the Wild on the Switch and even more amazing how they got Tears of the Kingdom on the Switch because all other open world games on the console are not good on it. Tears of the Kingdom is a miracle of hardwork and engineering brought to your fingertips.

If this wins at TGA, I hope you can give us a DLC announcement for Tears of the Kingdom. The main story needs to be more structured since there is so many plot holes that needs to be covered. Ganondorf’s backstory is one of them since we do not know what truely drives him. The Japanese version depicts him as a mighty Gerudo Warrior who lives in a world was actually shrouded in darkness until the Zonai came with their sacred Light. Additionally, he learn to master Gllom from the teachings of his surrogates mothers. That would be interesting to see in the additional cutscenes. A Twinrova boss battle as well since Kotake and Koume made brief appearances. And their names in the inscription of his weapons. Plus, exploring more of Ancient Hyrule as Zelda as we get to learned more about the Zonai origins.

@@realblazion3551 I doubt a post-game will ever be included in a Zelda game and I don't think we'll see a third game with this Hyrule. If they did the latter, then that would be milking BOTW too much and exploring the same version of Hyrule for a third time sounds boring to me. There's really not much that can be added to make this version of Hyrule interesting to explore and revisit. Also the whole "rebuilding Hyrule" idea sounds like it would get old pretty fast since the series is more about adventure and exploration, especially the case in BOTW and TOTK.

I am not currently able to explain how deeply fun and enjoyable this game experience has been. TBF I can't say I don't understand their view on it. Due to lockdowns this game got way more development time than they intended so they likely put everything they wanted to put in the game already into it, and given just how much you can already do in the game as is, what else could they even add without messing up what's already there?

@@omgray nope. It changed the gaming sphere and perfected the genre. It is revolutionary and everyone came together because of how good it is. BG3 to BG2, you'd see how big the gap is. Meanwhile BoTW and ToTK. It has Minecraft on it and some bloated caves and skies but the core of the game is the same so it's more of an expansion disguised as a 70$ sequel. Even the story is rehashed. Certainly would not wish it to win GoTY

@@Sympyismoon that’s just not true tho. If you’re arguing the core of TOTK is the same as its predecessor, how is that also not true of BG3? Both games are sequels, both games use concepts and gameplay from the previous game. The story isn’t the same as BOTW objectively speaking, so that’s just plain false. If we’re talking about revolutionary, TOTK is one of the most open ended games you can play. There isn’t much you can’t build; a house, vehicles, death traps, weapons etc. You can craft, cook, fight, hunt, skydive, fly and more. You can engineer. There are multiple ways to solve single problems. The game is even being used in classes now as a case study in engineering. Idk how you can argue this isn’t revolutionary. To me, it sounds more like you simply don’t like the game as opposed to a legitimate argument. Also, isn’t it a bit too soon to say BG3 changed the gaming sphere? How did it do that? The game just came out. Same goes for TOTK. They haven’t had enough time for their impact in the game industry to really show itself.
