I understand the point is maybe that dying to Ganon allows this version of Link (or not Link at all?) to let go of the grief in the story but in practice it's not satisfying at all for the player to go through Dark World difficulty dungeons/bosses with the starter sword and not be rewarded for it in any way. I did like the changes to the color palette, the custom music and the area design though.

This is really cool but I don't understand what's happening here. He's not THE Link? I don't think he's dead at the start cuz every character tells him "it's not his time" until after the final encounter, then the Princess, who's no longer flashing btw, tells him to rest. That's almost clever in a way cuz maybe they mean to say he isn't the hero, but a very competent swordsman who is capable himself but not strong enough to defeat Ganon

@megakazuya123 Agreed that this is not relation to Majora's Mask, but technically, Link's dead in all of them except Skyward Sword. All the rest are just reincarnations of Link except for Wind Waker, which is not technically a real "Link" anyway. Perhaps this was intended to be an incarnation of the Wind Waker Link instead? Considering he wasn't actually a chosen hero of the goddess Hylia, he was seriously bad ass. Kind of like this Link was in the video. Eh, or maybe not. Food for thought I guess.

I had a theory about this false hero. The title itself may be a hint that he either becomes links shadow or has ALWAYS been his shadow (Dark Link), hence his limited ability to commune with zelda through telepathy.

Mainly using a custom editor called ZScream. It allows you to change most things in game and is what allows you to complete a hack in such a short amount of time.

@@Deaganus heavens no 🤣 HM is awful to use. I've only played around with SMIlE for an hour or so a few years ago (Im assuming you are talking about the super Metroid editor) but from what I saw even SMILE fails to compare to ZScream. A massive amount of work has gone into ZS to make it as easy to use as possible and we still update it with new features every once in a while.

It’s not fun to watch someone play a game where they know where everything is and how to solve the pixels ahead of time. This play through looks like it was played by the maker of the game. This could have been an awesome video, as the game looked great. Just wish there was more exploring.

How do these Hacks work? Is there a link to past hack tool kit?

There is actually, this hack was made using a custom editor called ZScream. It's a level editor specifically built for alttp but it allows you to change the overworld, dungeons, graphics, dialog, and pretty much anything else you could want. There was also some custom assembly coding done for this hack but you'd be amazed what you can change without any coding knowledge at all.

One of the utterly weirdest ALTTP hacks I've seen yet... is there an explanation for how nightmarish this one feels? Probably would help if I didn't watch this after only getting 5-ish hours of sleep and falling asleep in the middle, huh?

If I were a betting man, this plays into the ruin timeline or w/e its called in the stupid convoluted zelda timeline split where the "hero" aka kid link in ocarina of time failed to defeat Gannon. This also serving to explain the opening of breath of the wild where link is asleep for 100 years... maybe? IIRC there are 3 "main" splits, the future stemming from when adult link beats gannon, a future where kid link beats gannon and the one where kid link fails. or something like that. Honestly to me, most of it felt very square peg round hole since many of the game were never made to directly correlate originally, mind you games since have but IDK building off what in my opinion is already a flawed continuity is a bad decision for future titles to build upon.

In all „Zelda“ titles, Zelda cheats on Link and start a life with Ganon (except the switch titles) Link doesnt wanna accept it and tries to kill her new husband. On his way, he tries to collect his heartpieces to heal from the dissapointment. Who do u think keeps reviving ganon? Who has magical abilities to summon the demon to which she fell in love with??

I was thinking that he used TAS because of the lightning bolts that get shot during the Aganhim (or however it's spelt) fight. He knew exactly where to stand so he wouldn't get hit rather than go to the safe spot near the top of the arena.

Terrible rom hack this guy is probably playing with a usb adapter to Snes controller. The first boss is impossible on an emulator. You cannot get those precise movements without an snes controller. In addition most emulators have input lag so you cant get that movement precision required for the boss. Which is why you shouldnt make a dark world boss harder while giving link only three hearts.

Rom Hacks are modifications to the original games. You could think of them almost as "mods" in terms of PC gaming, but often times mods modify a few files in the game but not the entire game, where as old cartridge games/roms did not come in multiple files, just one. So you "hacked" the ROM (read only memory) to modify the game files. Notice how most of this game is utilizing original link to the past assets? however there are a few original songs too.

To further elaborate its not really a "fan game" either as those are usually made from the ground up think like pokemon fusion where there is tons of original content compared to this game which uses most of the original games assets in a diffrent way instead.
