When I heard it on the title screen, I thought this song was catchy. When I realized the Earth God's Lyric was the first part, I was impressed. When I realized the Wind God's Aria was the second part, I was blown away. By the time they reunited, along with the ocean theme, Zelda's Lullaby, and Aryll's theme to form the credits, I had tears in my eyes. This game... this game was a *journey,* man.

I can't believe people hated this game when it originally came out for GameCube.
@xxProjectJxx11 жыл бұрын
Well, there was a lot to hate about it from the ocean segments being entirely too empty and long, the infamously bad triforce quest, and the annoying stealth bit in the first dungeon. It's more a shame that people at the time really only hated it for cursory things like the visual style, rather than issues at the core of the game. Made Nintendo piss scared to try anything new for a while. Wind Waker is my favorite 3D Zelda by the way. Don't want it to seem like I'm bashing it.
@00thisisnotreal0010 жыл бұрын
RayLedgend you were supposed to be exploring throughout the game rather than trying to finish the game as fast as possible for whatever stupid reason. when i got to the so called "horrific triforce hunt" i only had like 3 to go. if you had been playing the game the way that they intended you to play it, you wouldnt have a problem with the ocean "segments" or the triforce hunt.
@xxProjectJxx10 жыл бұрын
00thisisnotreal00 What's with your tone? You don't have to come off as so defensive over a video game. Jeez. So, are we even talking about the same version here? I'm talking about the Gamecube original, where I don't care how much exploring you did, practically no one would have made significant progress on the triforce quest before it was mandatory. I'll have you know I was always exploring, despite your rude assumptions otherwise, and going to new places when I played. The thing of it is, exploring is one thing, then there's grinding for Rupees to get the triforce maps from Tingle over and over. If grinding for obscene amounts of cash is 'the way they intended' me to play throughout the entire game, then it's still shit game design. Also, I'm sorry, but the ocean really was poorly designed. Big, sprawling . . . and practically empty. Nothing to do, practically nothing to see, and it takes several minutes to get to where you're going. It's boring and lifeless.
@00thisisnotreal0010 жыл бұрын
RayLedgend first of all, how can you tell my tone when youre just reading my comment. and yes, we are talking about the gamecube version. i havent even played the wii u version yet. I DID complete much of the triforce quest before it was mandatory. the reason i assumed that you hadn't been exploring was because you referred to the great sea as "ocean segments" implying that you just use the sea to get from A to B. the ocean wasnt poorly designed at all. there are 49 MAIN islands, and it takes all of 3 seconds to get to any given one considering you can WARP after you get the bow in the 3rd dungeon., and lifeless? no. not at all. the atmosphere was amazing on the ocean
@xxProjectJxx10 жыл бұрын
00thisisnotreal00 I know you can warp, bud. I beat that game like 3 times. But come on, there's practically nothing in that ocean. That's what I meant by lifeless. The entire game oozes atmosphere, the ocean included, but on a gameplay level it's completely devoid of activity. Even those islands you bring up are still barren. There's like a treasure to find or something. Almost none of them are a meaningful distraction. The warp points are helpful, but you could still potentially have minutes of travel to get where you need to go. I say all of this as a huge fan of Wind Waker. Like I said, it's my favorite 3D Zelda, but even though I love it, I'm not blind to its flaws. I love it despite its issues, not because I refuse to see them.

The Gamecube and Wind Waker was the last thing my father bought me and my brothers. I was 8 at the time. Its been 20 years since he passed. I remember hearing this for the first time and crying till couldn't cry anymore tears. It was such a jubilant game in such a dark time in my life. My father played Zelda since it first released in '86. My first memory was being sat up by a pillow watching him teach my older brother how to beat the first 2 Zelda games. The farewell of King Daphnes reminded me of my father. I miss him so much... Me and my brothers still play Zelda games to this day, its what reminds us of him the most...
