@@crazybut6641 its not bad until races 10+ most of the time you can win 1st race a talladega even on legend just pit for rights on one stop and lefts on the other and hope you can block for a few laps. You can even get a pole at the rock by dropping down the gear ratio just for quali

Another series to watch as they're up! Definitely go for 25% races so you can have more room for pit stop strategies and such. Also, upgrade your tire wear so you won't have shit tires 1/3rd of the way each race.

NASCAR switched to a smaller fuel tank at Daytona & Talladega beginning at the fall Talladega race in 2002. since NASCAR Thunder 2004 came out in 2003, this change was in the game. It should be a full 22 gallon tank everywhere but those tracks.

@@TheGrinch_ It was a safety thing to try to protect against the Big One. The idea behind it was that a smaller fuel tank = more pitting = more spread out field = fewer big crashes.

So happy this was pushed up. Thunder 04 was right in the prime of my childhood. I was 10 going on 11 at the time and the nostalgia of seeing all of it again is so good. It really does not feel like it’s been 18 years have passed since we got this glorious gift of a Nascar game.

When I played this on PS2 if I hit the wall a few times in a Career Mode race, my car would burst into flames and spin-out, then I would have to hit repair and get going again. This got really annoying so I played Thunder 2003 more despite 2004 otherwise being a better game.

There was a rule change in 2003 where the cars had smaller fuel cells at the plate tracks to increase pit frequency. On 10% race distance, you have to pit twice at superspeedways

@RealRadman To answer your question, NASCAR went to 11.5 gallon fuel cells (One can instead of two) for the October 2002 Talladega race in a vain attempt to break up the tight packs. Sometime later they settled on a 18 gallon fuel cell for all tracks, it was somewhere from 2003-2005. This game came out in September 2003 and was current as of the 2003 season.

The fuel cut on plate tracks in 2003 was NASCAR's way to cut down the tight pack racing on long runs. That way, it would prevent big ones from happening.

You have to buy the upgrades to get more engines, chassis's, and bodies. I believe you can have four of each. Just make sure you overhaul them and buy the upgrades.
