I am more shocked than surprised to know your remark that Sumanji is more talented than Lataji! Do you feel starting from Ghulam Hyder (who had declared that Lata would be the greatest singer, before he migrated to Pakistan), Anilda, Naushadji, CR, Sajjad Husain, Ghulam Mohammed, Madan Mohan etc. were crazy to offer most of their songs to Lataji? It is incredible certainly! Your opinion seems to be highly biased! It is obvious that Lata-bashing is done due mostly to unsubstantiated media reports than verified facts! Producers were not obliged to use Lataji's voice, because their money was at stake!

Certainly, these MDs must have sensed some difference in two voices and could have opted for the better among the two!

Madan ji, Salil Da, Hemant da, SD sahab and many more utilized Lataji successfully, no doubt, but my comment was solely based on my listening experience and one more thing, I'm not biased at all. I can't blame any of the above mentioned MDs because I'm nowhere in front of them. But I must tell that as a student of Indian classical music, I WILL love Sumanji's renditios, not only due to melody, but also for her classical "touch ups". Yes, Lataji also did her best in uncountable songs, but Sumanji didn't get that opportunity to prove. Last of all, both are the legendary singers and too difficult to evaluate.

Lataji sang a number of Marathi film songs as well as Bhaavgeet, Abhang, Koligeet etc. in the initial part of her career but later on she sang occasionally! During this period, Sumanji sang a lot of Bhaavgeet and Bhaktigeet, which are popular even now! You might like to listen to Lataji's songs from Rani Roopmati, Suvarn Sundari, Phoon ki Sej, Rangoli, Dr Vidya etc. to know her ability to sing classical songs! What I have observed is that whenever there is solo, duet, interview or any programme of Sumanji, there are a whole lot of comments by some viewers explaining how she was sidelined and how Lataji manipulated and so on. In the present video Sumanji said she used to listen to the songs of Noorjahan, Suraiah and Johrabai Ambalewali but in her special Jaimala programme on Vividh Bharati, she said she was fond of Lataji's songs and used to hum them. When Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo...... completed 50 years, suddenly she said in a Marathi channel that she was offered that song, which was snatched away from her! I am sure, most of us knew that it was supposed to be a duet between Lataji and Ashaji but Kavi Pradeep wanted it to be a solo with only Lataji and that is how it turned out to be! None of us had even heard Sumanji's name in this context!

Suman Ji sang sixteen Bengali song. All are super hits . In the language of cricket , her strike rate is 100 . Her Bengali pronunciation is much better than avarage bengali . In my childhood days, I don't belive that she is not Bengali . I am a retired person of 67 years. In my home we all listen Suman Ji's Bengali and Hindi songs almost daily. She is my most favourite singer. Bengalis love and respect Suman Ji very much. I wish her very good health and peacefull life forever.

The voice of Suman didi matches with Lataji is not the fault of anybody. It is God's creation. When both had high calibre in the same field, why the music industry favoured one is mistry. It should not have happened. We the common listeners respect both. Probably Suman didi did not like lobbying because of her soft nature. सुमन जी के साथ सदैव भेदभाव किया गया। जिस सहजता से सबका मुकाबला किया।वो काबिले तारीफ है। कुछ समकालीन गायिकाएं तो कहती थी कि सुमन के काम करेंगे तो वो उस निर्माता के साथ कभी काम नहीं करेगी। वो कितनी भी महान क्यों न हो पर इस ईर्ष्या के कारण बहुत निम्न स्तर पर ठहरतीं है।
