I grew up in California believing guns were scary and evil. Three years ago I started dating someone who enjoys shooting, and made me watch Paul Harrell's videos with him to understand gun basics and how to shoot. Watching Paul Harrell got me into guns, shooting, and I went from fearing guns to owning 6 of my own, including a Beretta 92. I met Paul Harrell at a gun show at Yard Birds in Chehalis, and without even a pause he handed me a gun and said "this one is for you". I will never forget that. I have a shot thru Queen of Diamonds playing card with his signature framed on my fridge, from that day. Paul might not make the most humorous videos like Mr Thumb and Co, but his videos are incredibly knowledgeable, impactful, and educational, and I will continue to watch them as I continue to learn too.

Good point. It's just really a blessing to have a channel that's fun to watch, you can learn a lot and the guy's not a narcissistic ass. A lot of people in the gun world are that guy. I learned an old acquaintance of mine had passed away in 2019 after getting hit by a car while crossing the street. She was 88 at the time. Used to enjoy her company, our conversations, her cooking. I am impressed how Paul carries himself, the humility, sense for humor. How he emphasizes how it is important we take our rights deadly seriously, being a proper ambassador, as he says, for the 2nd Amendment. RIP Mr. Harrell and Anna Marie.

I remember being in Detroit, MI during COVID and wanting to get my CCW license. The class was mostly black with a black former Marine instructor, but along with myself and a father and son we were the only white guys in the room. Nevertheless, the instructor plays one of Paul's early videos on handgun safety. I smile and say "Hey, it's Paul! I love that guy!" To which about half the room, including the instructor, also laughed and smiled saying they've seen his videos too. The instructor then replied "I wouldn't play his video in my class if I didn't think he knew what he was doing." Your videos have reached many people of very different backgrounds to empower themselves for self-defense. I wish you a swift recovery and know that when the end comes (hopefully MANY more years from now), as it will for us all eventually, your legacy of firearm instruction and commitment to personal empowerment will always live on and continue to teach millions of people long after all of us are gone. What I admired about Paul was, first, his kind, soft-spoken demeanor. Second his stoicism and professionalism. Third, his service to our country as a Marine for 20 + years. The next aspect of his greatness I would acknowledge is his sense of humor and humility. I am sad to know his family has suffered a terrible loss. Only the Good die young. Paul was too young. @Qingeaton I am in full agreement. I was a plumber who wasn't planning on doing what Dad did for a living. Once I got my Journeyman License, I made an internal commitment to be the very best Plumber I could be. In that quest, I gained two things admiration from my employers, piers, and apprentices. I also gained job satisfaction. As much as I loved teaching the trade, I always was on the lookout for guys who knew how to do whatever skill-set in plumbing and the other trades better than myself. I have a colleague that I was always quick to describe as the only one who was hands down a better plumber than myself. All plumbers have big egos and think they invented the trade. At times, I was just as guilty of that attitude as any of the other guys. But I loved working w my buddy Joe because he made me want to be as good as he is. In Paul's arena and trade, I'm sure he had many admirers way before he got to KZbin. There are those that really know and don't pretend to know. Paul was one of them. I've been binge watching his content this last week. What a huge resource for the average everyday man who wants to learn but has no aspirations to become a navy seal internet commando.

Paul's breakdown of the 1986 Miami shootout is the best that I've ever seen. I still watch that every once in a while and learn something new every time. He is a legend in the community and his no nonsense, straight to the point approach always kept me watching. I hope a lot of people learned not just a lot about firearms from him but video presentation as well. He's old school, but that presentation style is a lost art that he brought back with style. When I saw the thumbnail I was struck cold. My dad passed away two years ago from brain cancer. I found Paul searching for info regarding the Miami shootout, and then I proceeded to binge on his videos for weeks. I'll always associate him with his warning regarding his "Shatner-esque" pauses, which honestly I could never detect, lol. My favorite video of Paul's is "Don't Underestimate the 30-30," because my dad always deer hunted with a Marlin lever action 30-30. But there were so many other greats. What a legend. The wider world doesn't know Paul, but we in the gun community will never forget him. We should all be so lucky to impact others like Paul has.

I too was reluctant to hit play... I had it sitting in a tab for 5-days. It sucks seeing one of your life heroes in the final chapter. It's so disheartening and reminds you of your own mortality. Somehow I can hear Paul's voice with that Shatner-esqe phrasing saying, "Well, it's been found through extensive scientific study that life sucks and you should indeed get a helmet". You were one of the foundations of my firearms knowledge and have positively benefited me in ways that no one else could have. You were the only source of firearms and tactics information that has been infallible for me. I returned to your videos year after year because I knew that, even if I had an understanding of the subject material, I was bound to learn something new or be exposed to a new perspective I hadn't considered before. You have my trust, and for that, my respect and attention in all things. G. K. I knew that when you had something to say, it was worth pondering, and that was invaluable to me as a young man.

Cancer absolutely sucks. I was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney cancer last year, and I had one kidney removed. I’m in my late 30’s, and I’ve never had any health issues my whole life. I’ll never forget the date and time I got the diagnosis call. I’m very lucky it was caught by accident, but I also realize others aren’t so lucky. Praying for you Paul. You are an inspiration and you will live on through your videos and indelible influence on us.

Just FYI if you boys are actually reading this, I was a dealer for the last 13 years. I can tell you for a bonafide fact that Paul cost Federal at least some money, maybe not enough for them to notice, but definitely some. After I watched that video we never stocked one single box of 10MM Federal ever again. Obviously we still needed to have 9mm HSTs among other Federal products so we couldn't go for a full on boycott. But not only did we not stock it I specifically would tell people why I refused to stock it and back it up by pointing them to the video so I know some handfulls of people who went on to in turn never buy any 10mm from Federal again. Thanks for making this video happen. It was great seeing you guys together as I personally consider your "Becoming deadly"/RECCE/Whatever you wanna call em', videos to be every bit as valuable as anything in Paul's work. If you ever get the chance to visit the US, I recommend a stop in Texas. They have indoor and outdoor ranges where you can rent most types of firearms to learn how to shoot. Paul's reach goes beyond the US gun community. I'm from England, I'd never really thought much about firearms beyond COD but in lockdown 'the algorithm' dropped a couple of Paul's videos my way. I thought 'here we go, another American gun enthusiast video' but then watched one. The guy on screen with a cheesy intro and some epic slacks started out by apologising for a speech impediment but then went on to clearly and eloquently educate and entertain me for about half an hour! I was taken aback. So I watched a couple more. Where the difference lies with Paul is that in addition to being (what you call) an expert, he avoids opinion and dogma and is considered and scientific. It made me realise that I could find the topic fascinating - both the engineering aspect and the human aspect (the cultural differences in the attitudes to firearms). So cheers Paul, I've learnt a great deal from you and enjoyed your videos - I raise a pint to you.

Paul is a solid individual. I saw him in the wild one time in Oregon but didn't say anything because I thought he was having a normal day off with his lady. It was probably the respectful thing to do, and I wouldn't change that, but I do wish I could have said something kind to him about his work/impact on me. My favorite PH video was his .22LR home defense video where he shows actions taken for self-defense on a water jug or something like that with a .22LR rifle and then without where he runs up and field goal kicks it. One time Paul felt it necessary to demonstrate his qualifications, so he dumped a box full of shooting medals and trophies on a table. Paul was a _hell_ of a shot... I recall him putting 5 shots on a silhouette at 50 yards with a S&W Model 36. His claim to represent the "average shooter" was modesty, a desire not to rest on his laurels. I would say he represented the top 5% of shooters by ability.

I know of 2 people cured from terminal cancer by taking fenbendazole, they claimed there were no side effects, take it with food or orange juice. The doctors wouldn’t admit it was the cure but said they’ve known about it for a long time and can’t talk about it.
