Interresting. I'm looking into cell booster (4G/ maybe 5G) for a camper van and leveraging this channel to educate myself). I suspect an important factor is to have a nice long poll to put the antenna high up. The second is to have a fairly good antenna and then a good amplifier. I'm not sure if I'm aiming in the right direction. I don't really want to buy a cell booster without understanding the variables. And maybe I'll find that I'm better off building a setup. Thanks Andrew for these videos.

Possibly not everyone watching the video will realise that there is a slight apples and oranges comparison here. You are looking at the linear length of the antenna with a logarithmic scale of gain. Doubling the gain of the antenna is 3db, which tends to even things out a bit with regards to increasing number of elements. Thank you though for a look inside this beast. I suspect the best way to get it back in the tube is to remove the top cap and pull it through with a bit of silicone spray lubricant to assist. Cheers Nick G0OQK.

Great video as always. I notice you haven’t posted in a while. Hope all is well. If you continue to produce videos on trick antenna design, I was wondering if you might make some suggestions for antennas for satellite data downlink reception between 8-9ghz. If no more videos, thanks for all you’ve done and truly hope you well. Thanks again!

Hello Andrew. You have been quiet for a while, are you okey?

Interesting, adding elements increase the gain, it's upside-down as in electrical circuits where adding material usually adds resistance up.
@drkastenbrot3 жыл бұрын
gain has nothing to do with amplification or resistance, its all about directionality. consider a wave starting from one point compared to a wave starting simultaneously from 100 points next to eachother. the single wave will equally go in all directions, whereas the 100 waves will overlap and interfere in a way to send a very strong wavefront perpendicular to the line of points.

Hi Andrew. Could you answer a query for me regarding Cantenna material. You use toilet brush holders or tin cans. I was wondering since 90 mm PVC plumbing pipe is cheap and plentiful, if I could use that, but wrap it in Aluminium foil board tape to create a metalised cantenna tube. Would that work? Thanks.
@andrewmcneil Жыл бұрын
It would but it would leak RF energy. This is why the original pringles tube worked because it has metallised foil stuck to the inside of the tube. So while it will work it will not be as good as a real metal grounded tube.

Hello Mr. Andrew I had a question, please answer. If I use a wide band antenna instead of a speaker, does it convert and reflect sound frequencies into electromagnetic waves? For example, I want to produce a frequency of 500 MHz, is it possible to use an antenna instead of a speaker output? it works ?

Hi, subscribed to your channel as I want to learn about antennas. Can I ask what's probably an incredibly dumb question. I'm playing with a (Ofcom approved) cell booster on loan coz our signal is dire. The antennas it came with are rubbish Ebay ones. Could I use something like this as the internal emmiter aerial (700 - 2700Mhz) as it would fit along the top of the kitchen cupboards and the missus really doesn't like the internal wall unit it came with. If not, do you know anyone who could design me something that does that job???

I have watched many of your videos. I have also read other people's comments, and I know you are someone who is fascinated by technology. Maybe when analyzing your own thoughts, you may not take care of what others want to know. When someone comments on you that you talk too much, I feel they are wrong. In fact, what you said was not comprehensive enough, not because you said too much. If you can draw your vision on a diagram. It would be better to calibrate all the dimensions and start talking. It feels hollow when you talk directly about the physical objects. There are a lot of data that others cannot understand.
