Like the Vox AC-30, this video is perfect; from the accent to the screwdriver and everything in between. Molto bello, Bob!

A rather lovely video - Don't forget the AC30/4 also had EF86 making it quite different in feel and tone. I have both AC30/4 and a AC30/6 TB 1962 Nice tones from the GT and P90. I don't really like my Les Paul PAF though my VOX - Prefer my Esquire or Strat .

Thank you for chiming in Bigsbeee, I'm happy that you liked the video. You are right about the EF86 AC-30/4. I agree, Esquire and Telecaster are definitely a great match with AC-30's: they complement much better than other guitars do. Please feel free to browse through the other content of the channel!

Let me say right off the bat, this guy is incredible. Finally someone who really has a vast knowledge of amps and how to really get the tone out of them. Awesome job mate. Great playing and explanation of the amp and how it works. Most people don't take the time to give a good presentation of an amp. You gotta love this guy. Keep on rocking love your videos.

I could be wrong, but I believe the tone of the opening riff on Jumpin Jack Flash was achieved by plugging Kieth’s acoustic guitar straight into the desk and allowing the signal to clip with a mild distortion.. It does sound vox-like though.
@BobsToneReview Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the input, I will investigate, even though it does not sound anything like that. Anyway in a Stones production there's so much going on in the mix so possibly we could be both right.

I think Jumping Jack Flash was recorded by micing the inside of acoustic Keef's acoustic but wow you really can get pretty close to it on that Vox.

You may be correct but I think it was Street Fighting Man that was Keith's acoustic.

Can't imagine dragging my 63 JMI from gig to gig. She ways a ton, is temperamental and I wouldn't consider using it unless I slid the chassis out half way for cooling. It's a royal pain. Nothing sounds quite like it though. Unfortunately it's design was it's downfall. All that heat with no ventilation was a train wreck waiting to happen. Cool to see your going the distance.

Such an informative review and lots of samples. I like that. Thank you so much! One further question: Currently I am doing some experiments with a Boss GT 100 Multieffects Pedalboard. There are preamp models named VO Drive and VO Lead. Boss describes them as "drive sound" and "lead sound" of the AC 30 TB. Do you know what they mean by that? Thanks a lot.
@BobsToneReview5 жыл бұрын
Ciao Daniel, I'm happy that you enjoyed the video, thank you for your kind words. I don't have a definite answer, I can imagine that by "drive“ they mean a slightly overdriven rhythm guitar tone as opposed to a prominent overdrive in the "lead" mode. Please feel free to subscribe the channel, more to come! :)
@danielgruner5 жыл бұрын
@@BobsToneReview Thank you very much for your response. That's interesting because in both settings "drive" and "lead" the knob values are the same.
