Plus they're way too fragile and make me realize why they used technic and CCBS for that kind of thing before instead of bricks.

I like both honestly. I added some parts to add 3 pillars and I instead have my chaos emeralds on there. Something I don’t think people are talking about enough is you can basically get the full set of characters as of 2024 if you buy both sets, Tails’s workshop, and The Eggman drill tank. You could even just claim the mech was Tails’s idea

I think I prefer the Angel Island one , if it werent for Rouge being an exklusive on the Guardian mech one which is the one I got. I just hope that Rouge the bat mini fig will get more re releases.

The thing is, if they planned the sets out a bit better they could have totally done the collect em all aspect with the chaos emeralds and the master emerald. Being able to collect the chaos emeralds in the original Sonic set as part of the building experience was my favorite thing 😔

I’m not a big fan of mechs, so I got the pieces for the Master Emerald and the stand, and built them myself (before the Shrine set was even released!). And I got bits to make more columns so as to display seven differently coloured Chaos Emeralds.

The sonic sets have been great. Death egg robot and shadow's motorcycle are 9/10 and very excited for the tails vs metal sonic, but knuckles in a mech? It could have been more focused around sky sanctuary with the teleporters and falling ground pieces. Glad we got an egg robo but he looks goofy. Knuckles is the only one I chose to get at a used figure/lego store for 1/3 the price of either set he came in.

Great video! That's a very frustrating tactic. Rouge happens to be my favorite Sonic girl, but I find the Master Emerald Shrine set overall way cooler. But if you don't get the mech set, the shrine won't have the Master Emerald! Also, so far that mech set is the only one to have Rouge!

Thanks so much! Choosing between the figure you want versus the cooler set is a hard choice. Hopefully Rouge comes in another set or gets another variant, as LEGO Sonic tends to repeat characters across sets.

Having small items to collect like the chaos emeralds is cool, but the master emerald is more of a missing component imo. Like to me it feels really bad to have to spend twice the money to essentially complete a set I would have otherwise loved.

I just bought the Master Emerald off Bricklink. It was under £3 for the emerald (2 pieces, ~£2.50) and the holding thing (10 pieces, ~£0.35). They also had the shards that go inside it in trans-bright green (to match the Master Emerald) instead of the trans-green that comes with the mech. So in some ways doing this is an upgrade.

I actually fixed this because i own both sets you can just slot the master emerald right into the shrine, and i also have the 7 chaos emeralds so i made 3 extra pillars for them to go on!

so many people complain about the master emerald shrine not having the master emerald. i feel like i might be the only person on the planet who was actually glad it didn't. if it did, then you wouldn't wanna get the knuckles mech set. you would probobly only get it for rouge really. and besides, did you wanna have 2 master emeralds? at the end of the day, to each their own but personally i didnt have an issue with this and i collected all the sets no problem. tho when wave 2 gets retired then that might be an issue....

@@RadiantBuilds well they actually have a chance to. since you might know, the master emerald shrine is meant to have 7 pillars around it for the chaos emeralds so they could make annother set that connects to this, with the pillars and the master emerald. personally, with the master emerald shrine set i just made 3 additional pillars, added them around the 4 and put the chaos emeralds on it so it has the pillars it should but hey lol thats just me

I'd like to get an Amy but the set isn't that enticing. I picked up the mech set for Rouge, but it'd be nice to get a mini figure series to broaden out the Sonic characters since so many sets are locations and could use more figures to flesh them out.

A Sonic Minifigure series would be hype, so many cool characters and different outfits to pick from! As for Amy, she isn’t too expensive on the aftermarket if you wanted to go down that route, but I’m sure she’ll be in more sets in the future.

It’s crazy how LEGO hasn’t made any of the vehicles from the Sonic Racing games. This set could have easily been a Knuckles car instead of a mech. A dream set would be Sonic’s Speedstar in the style of a Speed Champions set.

I'm not particularly impressed with either set tbh, the master emerald is the wrong preportions and the mech + glider seem unnessisary and out of character for them, but the shrine set could do with a lil more detail and be big enough to hold the master emerald along with all 7 chaos emeralds. I know these sonic sets are focused on playablility and accesablility for kids but the emerald shrine is such an inportant part of the lore I wish they did a more detailed version... maybe the past version just before the Echidna clan raided it complete with chao and Chaos 0

Good points all around (especially with the mech/glider). A larger Shrine build (maybe in the style of an 18+ set) would be really cool and fully capture the location from the games, but like you said, gotta keep these sets accessible
