Ok, I believe that the reason people thought it was bad was because it was a Lego NINJAGO movie, people were expecting something with their favorite characters, accurate to the show, possibly canon. What we got was a Lego movie with Ninjago characters. Objectively, the movie isn’t bad, it is actually pretty good, but since the people were expecting the show and didn’t get it, they were upset and their views changed on the movie. By Lego movie standards, (Lego Movie and Lego Batman Movie) it is a great movie, has pretty good comedy with heartfelt moments and a good moral lesson. But since the people thought they were going to get a movie like the show, they got their expectations high for a NINJAGO movie, not a Lego movie.

I dunno why but I liked the movie for 5 reasons: 5- the sets 4- the new Nya design who really looks like a girl a bit more than the OG design ( no offense) 3- the cat and other funny moments in the movie 2- Garmadon is really amazing and funny 1- Koko is a way more caring mother than Misako is

Did it ever suck? I mean, sure it was different from the show but it was supposed to be a funny little spinoff. And the seasons that followed (Oni trilogy) were amazing! Changed the show for the better, honestly.

The way I see it, this movie just uses characters I already know and love to tell a story about a broken family coming back together. And I think it’s beautifully done, which is why it’s my favorite movie ever

Okay I'm saying this before I have watched the video: I loved this movie! It had some action, emotional moments and hella funny scenes! The final enemy was a CAT! A frickin CAT! The dynamic between Lloyd and Garmadon was cool aswell and the outfits the ninjas wore were awesome. Of course, it isn't a part of the main timeline, but when I watched it, I didn't care about that, all I wanted was a good time at the movies. And boy did I have that! The only problem I had with this movie is how it affected the main timeline with the ninjas looks, but even that had a good side: Garmadon got back to the main timeline!! I also need to say, the placeholders for the movie in 2016 were actually good. I know many people disliked DotD, but I think it was a good addition to the series, even Morro got his return. And the dark Island trilogy is not as hated, but I still want to say: It's really fun. So, the movie did both good and bad things... Good things: Cole isn't a ghost anymore; we *technically* got a extra scene from the Lego movie, we got the first ever (I think) canon comic for Ninjago, we got a fun movie for kids, and Garmadon is back (did I miss something?) Bad things: The movie itself is not canon and not as good as most seasons of the show So yeah, there it is: The movie is actually kinda good

actually after rewatching the movie last year. i loved it i think separating it from the show was a good thing to do so i could see the movie for what it was a fun and silly movie with my favorite ninja. most unpopular opinion ever i know

I think an awesome idea for the back in time plot would be, they go back in time and save garmadon, but in the process lloyd discovers the wu was the one that wrote the letter, lloyd does the right thing and does not let garmadon sign the letter. The do eventually save garmadon but when the ninja go back to the present, lloyd fades away, since he never existed. I think it would bring a dark tone to the movie

I had never seen the Ninjago show. I saw the movie and felt it was the best of all the LEGO movies. Perhaps you guys should not try to watch it as if it’s the Ninjago show. This honestly is a “you guys” problem. The movie should be judged as a standalone, and not as something that was to be informed by the show. My enjoyment of the movie is why I buy the sets. I’d rather shoot myself in the face than watch the show.

Idk, I think the film is totally fine by itself. It's the same thing with how marvel and dc "adapt" Norse and greek mythology, as in keep characters' names and their 2 most important traits... and literally everything else is fair game to completely rewrite. But if you understand that going in, it's a fun enough time. I absolutely love that we have Jackie Chan choreographed fight scenes animated with legos!!! They look so awesome!

Imagine the movie starts with them losing to garmadon and going back in time to stop that timeline from happening. During that the groups split up. •Nya and jay get eaten by devourer and find the city, during that they build a relationship. •Kai finds his father and tries to find out what happened to them. Clearly not over there death. •Lloyd and sensei wu connect with past garmadon. •Sadly cole and zane i dont really have any ideas for, maybe zane about him being a robot. But cole not much pottential. During all there adventures they get attacked by bounty hunters causing them to slowly unlock there true potential one by one. At the end they group up and defeat whoever the bad guy is.

I have a love hate relationship with this movie. It's not a good representation of how good the show is, and does most of my favorite characters dirty. The humor is hit or miss, but there are points that actually make me laugh, and I find myself quoting "your power is green" whenever Lloyd's powers are ambiguous in the show. Most importantly, the movie brought a lot of new people into the fandom, including my sister, who I'd never been able to get to watch the show because she's an artist and the animation in the first seven seasons is not good. After she enjoyed the movie I was finally able to convince her to watch the show in all its insane glory.

What if they made a Six Movie Ninjago Saga with each Installment focusing on one of the Ninja to properly flesh them out! And also after the Box Office disappointments of both the Ninjago Movie and The Lego Movie 2, Lego left Warner Bros, and signed a new deal with Universal Pictures. Which means that these Lego Movies will be starting from Scratch, with no Batman since DC is owned by Warner. But they can use a lot of IP such as: Jurassic Park, Fast and Furious, Back to the Future, Shrek, Minions, The Classic Monsters and many more. With of course Non Licensed themes like Ninjago being free to play with. So who knows what the Future holds!

it's funny you mentioned the videogame dub because in spanish I think it's kinda the opposite, the game dub is good while the movie not so good, first the four main ninja retained their og voice actors from the series in the movie and game but lloyd, nya, and wu were changed for the movie but stayed the same in the game, in the movie wu and nya were not so bad but lloyd was replaced for a youtuber and he is a really bad actor

Out of respect to the sheer effin amount of energy, time and work you put into this vid, I'm making this comment only after watching it. FULLY. So. Yes, it still sucks. Big time. And the only reason it does is the atrocious writing. More precisely, the writers not respecting the source material the first place. I wish we would be debating whether they should've kept the original hairstyle of the ninjas or why did they use the shark-mecha design instead of the king crab, but the symptoms are waaay more serious than that. The writers were clearly emboldened by Lego Batman's success and thought that they could catch the same lightning twice. The difference is, they put quite a lot of effort and respect into making the Batman script while keeping the tone of the LEGO Movie. And it worked - though it was quirky and balancing on the edge of edgyness, the characters were faithful to themselves - even in their comically exagerated forms. They knew that they are working with one of the most recognized and respected comic book character of all time and did not dare to pull off such moves that would anger the fans - the audience they were expecting their money from. Now, this kind of respect to the source material is 100% absent from the Ninjago movie. These hacks gutted the characters, shitcanned 7 seasons of story development for some cheap name recognition and basically used it as a platform to tell an incredibly disjointed and lame story. Clearly, Ninjago was just a stupid Saturday morning cartoon for them with LEGO NINJAS - who would ever be mad about THAT? Well, apparently all the people whom you expected ticket sales from. Fans of the series, kids and and parents of those kids who grew up with these characters. The creators were quick to dive behind the cozy sandbag wall of "this is a non-canon addition" but then again, why did you subvert the characters and the lore? None of us would've been mad about a non-canon story which steers away from Ninjago and the 15 worlds if the characters were faithful to themselves. Instead, you opted to use Zane for a "yo mamma" joke... But in the end, this unabashed hubris became their undoing. LNM was the first in the movie series to technically bomb at the box office, sending shockwaves further to LM2 and leading to the selling of the franchise to Universal. They bought 2 great lessons as well. First: stop insulting the paying customer. Second: one must give respect if they await any in return. So, again, 5 years later the LEGO movie still sucks, as it will suck 10-15-20 years from now on, as the very fundamentals are rotten away. Same as Game of Thrones S8.

The movie was rushed. Atleast the animation department. Thats why theres real mountains and water. But there realistic background does fit into the film because film features A GIANT DAMN CAT. It would have been little out of place without it. Another fact is that the Ninjago movie game had meowthra character. Which was cut. It was obviously was a joke. Because the cat was real size in the games levels.

I think the ninjago movie would've been better without the other Lego movies to compare it to. I do enjoy it being in a separate realm and stuff, but the humor just wasnt good compared to the batman movie and the Lego movie. as for the designs, I enjoy them. I really just think we were so used to the old ones that these just appeared much too different.

I don’t hate this movie I just think it’s mid, while I do feel the story is somewhat lackluster in comparison to the tv show and they did my boy Zane dirty! The movie was still watchable and it has some absolutely hilarious moments in it (after all it’s not everyday we get a modern animated childrens film that is actually funny and doesn’t try too hard) also Dave Franco does a much better teen Lloyd than Jillian Michaels change my mind! Also never in a million years would I imagine Jackie Chan as wu would work as well as it did

It's not comparing it to the show that made me dislike it. Its just the story' charecters and this mix of lego and non lego elements and the lego world and humon world conection idia just throws it off to me. That goes for nearley all the movies so far. When I want a lego movie I want legos and none of those elements like trapping the justice league with bubblegum in the first movie or people terorised by a giant cat. I personally think just puting together cutscenes from the lego videogames makes a better movie.
