As usual, hope you're not sick of hearing it, but, great job George! The dynamics, the tempo changes, you just have a great ear and ability. I'd like to see you and Terry sit and talk about what this knowledge of Bonzo has done to the way your hear other music. Another one of my favorite tunes here, thanks for posting.

In my band we are planning to play this song and I was not very sure about the passages from the soft-fast-soft parts and especially about how to play the fast part. With this vídeo you sure put my doubts away!!!! Thanks George. GREAT PLAYING!!! (JR-PORTUGAL)

George makes it look easy... lots of analysis and practice obviously is super important. It took me so long to nail this. Lots of frustration and broken drumsticks. But George has helped me so much. For years.

Fantastic post Sir, i'm no drummer but it seems obvious to me that the original was recorded after many many rehearsals and live performances cause the drums fit like a glove in the arrangement of the song, it doesnt "step" on no toes, the fills are perfectly placed - thank you for this wonderful video and a chance for us to appreciate this drum track cheers!

they recorded it on 1 try in the studio perfectly, but yes they probably rehearsed many times before, they were really a brilliant band probably one of the most brilliant rock bands in history. They each understood the musical depths of their musical talents.

Hmm. You might know the answer to this question: Did Bonham ever actually use a 2nd floor tom in the studio? There's so few photos online of Bonham in studio....maybe you have some of the books that I've glimpsed at over the decades
@BONHAMOLOGY4 жыл бұрын
I would think so because it sound like it from the 4th album onward. Also, I think there are some pics from Stargroves that Eddie Kramer took during the Houses if the Holy recording, with the Green sparkle kit , and I think the two fts are visible.
@davewestner4 жыл бұрын
@@BONHAMOLOGY I actually did a little listening research after I posted this, and I think so too. You can especially hear it on Presence. Would love to see those Kramer photos. Bonzo in the studio is a tough photo to find online.

I’ve said this on a few of these videos lately that George is getting it down so well and the drums are dialed in about as close as you can get and I really mean that, that without video i would have a very difficult if not impossible time picking is that George or is that an isolated John a Bonham track, this is getting scary like George and Jason were switched at birth or something. Wow!!!!!!!!!

I really like what you're doing but to be fair, I stopped at the 13 second mark with this video because the opening little ditty on the snare, which is sacred IMHO, is not da-da....da-da-da. I'm not one to criticize so I'll come back to give the full song a listen at a later time as again, I appreciate everything you're doing. If you listen closely to the snare drag on that opening sequence, however... you'll notice it goes: LR L L RLL, with the final three notes RLL epitomizing the soft side and special touch of Mr. Bonham. Cheers!
