So nice to see this exists, they turned to shit before I could see them, so this fills the void good enough

You should have seen them in 1988, this is OK but that version was the shit.

@@reidfleming2k6 it was pretty much a steady decline after hate your friends, but became absolutely unlistenable as soon as they got noticed by the mainstream. I'm hoping some soundboard recordings show up somewhere, you'd think there'd be a punk website where you can download soundboard recordings.

@@scottbaylo The live WERS recordings they issues as bonus tracks were pretty good. I don't know if you saw the deily/dando/strohm/peretz band live, that was the peak for me. The rumble semis where they played with bullet lavolta was one of the best bills I've ever seen.

reidfleming2k6 I actually never got to see them live, even when they came through here it was during the crap years, and the chances of them playing anything good was slim to none. I missed a few amazing bands, but I’ve also seen some of the best shows ever like that Descendents surprise show around 94 at city gardens (during the All/Chad years because chad was sick and milo flew in for just that one show)... so I can’t really complain too much

@@vonclohk507 the weird thing is that most of their early stuff is WAY catchier, and had plenty of “pop” built in from the get go… considering they were getting popular during the whole Nirvana explosion, the first 4 albums would’ve fit in perfectly. They had the best of both worlds by playing slow jams, and power/pop punk, but for some reason dropped the more rockin songs to focus on wuss rock. Don’t get me wrong, I will never have anything but love for this band. Those first few albums are so friggin great, and they truly never get old (which is something I only find in 80’s-90’s punk/indie/whatever). I think I just get so disappointed and depressed when I think about what could have been if they stayed with a hate your friends sound. And for the record, I’d take lemonheads over nirvana any day of the week! Nirvana was (and still is) the most overrated punk band next to the Sex Pistols. I don’t hate them by any stretch (they have quite a few great songs), but if you’re gonna crown any punk band as the greatest of all time… Descendents is gonna take it, there isn’t much in the way of competition that comes close. It doesn’t really matter, it’s not a competition to begin with, but it boils my blood to see so many dopey people still getting boners over Nirvana when there are so many other amazing bands who deserved at least a small sliver of the spotlight. Part of me wishes that punk lasted longer in the mainstream, on one hand we might have gotten more albums with amazing sound quality, inspiring more kids to start bands… but on the other hand, I know most of those bands would end up being whiney, nasally garbage like that good Charlotte, or simple plan crap, which is just awful, awful music! Until a few months ago, I hadn’t heard any good music since the early 2000’s. At first, I thought it was me being a jaded, old c#nt who just doesn’t get new stuff. That’s only half true… new music just generally blows! I’ve asked for recommendations from a ridiculous amount of people, and a couple were ok, but out of all of the bands with something special ALL FORMED BEFORE THE YEAR 2000!!! This will sound crazy, but I sometimes wonder if 9/11 really messed up the whole world in every way… the quality of everything from movies, to television, to music took a steep nosedive after that… Jesus, can I ramble or what?! I don’t get passionate about many things, but when talking about music I can go on forever! Sorry about that
