Absolutely one of my favourite television memories living in the UK during my teens. Some of you might think this is crap, but it's groundbreaking television and it's not nearly as bad as some of you claim. You probably think "Friends" is true comedy genius. DSD Movies make some good points. The show contains many good 80's poitical references and of course themes from this show tie in to Henry's variety and standup appearances. Later shows also as good, especially "Chef" and even the excruciating "Bernard and the Genie" had some good bits.. He's a comedy star and a wonderful advocate for broadcast equality. Bloody hell there is just so much comedy in this series .. I can't believe people don't like it. Bless you 'radionecks' for your generosity in sharing!

Friends is alright but the best comedy show of that nature was are you being served. That’s real humor not the annoying neurotic 20 somethings. And coupling was also miles better than friends

'Frankanory' (parody of 'Jackanory')?

Wow I was 13 when this was first shown. I thought his style was amazing. It's really not aged too badly but the jokes seem a little naive. In comparison, Only Fools and Horses jokes seem to have stayed the course.
@DSDMovies9 жыл бұрын
I won't pretend it's great, but it's not as bad as it could have been. I like the attempt to at least allude to the tension between the people and the police, even if it's softened. Prime time, BBC1, predominantly black cast, many other non-white actors, all just being people. Why have things gone backwards since then? Why is there essentially no mainstream comedies from people that aren't white? There have been some, and they've been awful, but that's the genre itself, 99% of all sitcoms are awful, nothing to do with ethnicity. The BBC, or whoever, should be comissioning more pilots, getting more series done. Only with a higher volume of shows being tested can the good stuff appear. Right now they don't take chances on anything, rarely make anything new.

Lenny Henry is not funny and never has been, most of us cant fathom why he ever got to be on Television in the first place. Was he just in the right place at the right time when TV executives needed a black comic actor with a brummie accent. He seems to have done financially very well, for someone with very little talent. I say financially otherwise it'd get confused with talent, like calling the lottery winner a very successful person, when infact their wealth came from pure luck
