They are very atmospheric for that time in France. Worth a try if you can find them cheaply. Best wishes.

Very atmospheric for that time in France. Some of the stories are better than others. Worth a try I think if you can find them cheap. Simenon is very famous in his native France. Best wishes.

Yes a few subscribers have commented similar. He would be very big in his native France. Hope you are reading something good Maeve.

Thank you for doing the tag! I have yet to read any of the Maigret books, although they have been sort of one the periphery of books I want to read...I think it might be time to move Simenon onto my TBR!

Good vid. The way you describe Maigret reminds me of the way I felt recently re-reading a Margery Allingham, that sense of another time and place.

Thanks for the tip. I have a few Margery Allingham on the bookshelf and not got around to them yet. I can't keep your pace!

This was terrific, Nigel. I do love these old paperbacks, and I love these old mystery series especially. Over 400 novels written! I can't even imagine. I'm reading around a bit in Agatha Christie these days, and I do enjoy going back into an earlier world. I really enjoyed your overview of the Maigret books. Thank you!

Thank you for the encouragement Pat it is much appreciated. I've not read any Agatha Christie in a lot of years but I remember enjoying them. I have picked up a few to get around to at some point. The groaning tbr! Best wishes!

@@ReadingIDEAS.-uz9xk I hadn't read her in years either, until March Mystery Madness. Then I started reading her again. She's a real comfort read for me, I think. At least the Miss Marples are. I have to tell you: I sent a link to your detecting page (different kind of detecting...😉) to my friend, and I was exploring it a bit too. I've subscribed over there too. Just incredible finds!
