The Levenmouth Rail Link: FIRST DAY of Operation (02/06/2024)

The timetable change on 2 June 2024 was a significant day for the residents of Levenmouth as it marked the first time in 55 years that they had a train service.
The Levenmouth Rail Link is a, roughly, five mile long branch line that spurs off the main line from Edinburgh to Dundee at Thornton Junction (near Glenrothes with Thornton) and runs down to Leven, with a single intermediate station at Cameron Bridge.
This line previously shut to passengers in 1969 but would still remain open for freight use until the late 1990s.
In this video, we embark on a journey from Glasgow to Edinburgh and then join the first service from Edinburgh Waverley to Leven. Once the crowds died down a bit, we went to explore the surrounding areas a bit, including taking you to where the old railway through Leven used to run, before heading back to check out Cameron Bridge.
Overall, the line is very impressive and both locals and non-locals, like myself, turned out in droves to check it out. I was genuinely both surprised and amazed at how busy it was and how many people turned up for it, on a Sunday of all days.

Thanks for the video David. I am currently in Whaley Bridge. I might go to Sheffield from Chinley as I don't know Sheffield at all really and will be an exciting experience going past the upgraded Dore and Totley Station.
