Talk delivered at Tufts University, October 2017.
Daniel Haqiqatjou discusses the history of liberalism and the liberal program to colonize the Muslim world and ultimately destroy Islam.
Have you ever felt uncomfortable with Islam? Have you ever felt embarrassed or depressed or conflicted by something you have read in the Quran or hadith? Have you ever felt Islamic law is backwards and in need of reform? Well, there is a reason you, as a Muslim in the modern world, have had such feelings. There is a central source of that burden that's been weighing you down all this time, threatening your faith and the faith of your Muslim family and friends...
"This video goes into exactly why liberalism is and has been such a major threat to Islam and Muslim civilization. I take the threat of liberalism extremely personally and so should all Muslims for reasons I discuss in the talk."

To understand the liberal secularist and feminist project in the Muslim world, one needs to revisit the British colonization of Egypt. Everlyn Baring, better known as Lord Cromer, was the British Proconsul-General in occupied Egypt between 1877 and 1907. He wrote about his tenure in his book "Modern Egypt" (1916). Here are some conclusions from his book: 1. The West will not tolerate an Islamic government. On page 565, he said that it would be "absurd" to assume that Europe would tolerate a "government based on purely Mohammedan principles and obsolete Oriental ideas." 2. Muslims must be forced to adopt the principles of Western civilization. On page 538, he said that Egypt had to be "forced into imbibing the true spirit of Western civilization." 3. Westernization must be introduced under the guise of women's rights. Lord Cromer says that the "position of women" in Muslim countries was a "fatal obstacle" in the introduction of colonial values. (page 539) 4. The West must educate a class of young secular Muslims to be the rulers. Cromer's hope was that a Europeanized education system would cause an Egyptian to "lose his Islamism", cause him to "no longer believe that he is always in the presence of his Creator", and only hang onto "the least worthy portions of his nominal religion" for the sake of convenience. (page 230) 5. The West must reform Islam. Cromer says that the goal should be to create "de-moslemized Moslems", where people are Muslims-by-name, but in actuality, are "agnostic". After all, Cromer says, "Islam cannot be reformed ... reformed Islam is Islam no longer." (pages 228-229) 6. The Muslim reformer would hate Muslim scholarship more than Europeans do. The Westernized Muslim would consider the `alim to be a "social derelict", use him in matters of convenience, but otherwise disrespect him. On the other hand, a European Christian intellectual would at least look at the `alim with sympathy and respect, as a "representative of an ancient faith". (page 299-30) 7. Modernized Muslims will become Deists. "It is conceivable that, as time goes on, the Moslems will develop a religion, possibly a pure Deism, which will not be altogether the Islamism of the past and of the present, and which will cast aside much of the teaching of Mohammed, but which will establish a moral code sufficient to hold society together by bonds other than those of unalloyed self-interest." (page 234) ----------- We can see therefore that Islamic reform started as a colonial project. A project that has been devilishly designed by European intellectuals to undermine the clerics, introduce secular humanist institutions, and gradually and inconspicuously lead Muslims away from the central tenets of their tradition. They knew that this reformed, liberal Muslim would not be a Muslim at all, but just a Europeanized invertebrate (i.e. a spineless being) who would maneuver the religion to his needs. This seven-step process is exactly what is happening to Muslim youth in the West. They volunteer themselves to Western academia and pop culture, and are led away from a truly Islamic worldview and epistemology. And while they fool themselves into calling themselves "Muslim reformers", or "Muslim feminists", or "moderate Muslims", or "liberal Muslims", their puppet masters know that these are all contradictions in terms. Times change, but right remains right, and wrong remains wrong.

Imaging leaving the truth bc of European and American liberal tactics. Allah says in the Quran: O you who believe! Whoever turns back among you from his religion, then soon (will) bring Allah a people whom He loves and they love Him, humble towards the believers (and) stern towards the disbelievers; striving in (the) way (of) Allah and not fearing the blame (of) a critic. That (is the) Grace (of) Allah, He grants whom He wills. And Allah (is) All-Encompassing, All-Knowing. (Ayah al-Ma`idah 5:54)

Hey Daniel, thanks for the very clear and passionate talk. I think I understand your proximate concerns about liberalism very well now - it may influence devout Muslims to feel like the "odd one out", letting them come to the conclusion that maybe they should have a different outlook on Islam or even leave it eventually. What I am not entirely sure on is the nature of your ultimate concerns with this. Maybe you can find time at some point to answer these questions and clarify that for me: 1. If Islam was false (by which I mean the metaphysical narrative; that the Quran is a revelation etc.), would you still want to adhere to Islamic values and like to see them spread? 2. If belief in Islam couldn't be shown to be justified by some shared, agreed upon epistemological standard, would you then still want to adhere to its values and others to do the same? 3. What's bad about Muslims leaving the faith or becoming liberal/cultural Muslims? Does it just boil down to the afterlife/ day of judgement or are there also any secular arguments for why they ought not change their views? Thanks!

r. So Brother Daniel is worried about the Layman Muslim who may fall in the traps of Liberalism. Also, Islam is a way of life there is no such thing as a part-time Muslim look at our history you will see what I mean. Also, you are coming with the pretense that Islam is false, Which it's not its the only revelation that is 100% intact today and covers every single aspect of life. If there was a God wouldn't he send down a guide for his creation to follow? If Islam is false provide your evidence and I will be the first to put pork on my fork. Really its not a cult we are encouraged to be critical thinkers again look at our history. Just today many Muslims are intellectually lazy, look at our history we have already dealt with these sorts of ideologies. Anyway, prove Islam wrong to me I don't want to follow something false. Also, its an Obligation upon every Muslim to look out for their brothers and sisters in faith plus the wider humanity. To Enjoin in Good and Forbid Evil. And these Western ideas cause may social vices and disorders so we have to protect ourselves and communities from it. Today bestiality allowed tomorrow incest the day after pedophilia the day after who knows. That's a crude example but these man-made philosophies are extremely incoherent and have no basis. Just look at what the Communists did and the US are doing today all based upon man-made philosophies.

@@baheer156 I think you misunderstood my comment slightly. I wasn't saying nor implying that Islam is actually false. That's not a discussion one can productively have in a KZbin comment section. Rather, my questions aimed to find out to what degree Daniel's political and social convictions are contingent on its truth and to what degree they would persist without it. My guess is they wouldn't change drastically even if he left the religion tomorrow - but I could be totally wrong, hence the questions.

@@yellowpetelol6417 hey man, Greetings! I generally never reply to any KZbin comment but you seem very genuine about it so i feel i should tell you what i know, and my understanding of things. the first 2 questions i feel are somewhat personal in nature as you are asking those from Brother Daniel himself but i would like to address the last one: the secular argument for it can be made like the one pan africans make for slavery in America, but in Islamic ideology that doesn't matter. Islam and Quran believes in day of judgement and after life so much that we see it as something that is definitely going to happen like your death; you are not sure when it will happen but you know for certain it will happen. so we don't think in terms of what we can gain from the thing in the moment be it pleasure or any political advantage. As a matter of fact being a Muslim is a state of constant mindfullness and responsibility in light of Quranic law or Sharia. Now to you looking it from a secular standpoint ( i am supposing it) it might look very alien but to us all pleasure we save it for afterlife not for the world, Its a very common idea in Islam and a hadees of Prophet SAWW that Allah has bought lives of Momineen ( believing Muslims) in return for Jannah. Unfortunately u can't really understand it from a secular standpoint you have to read Quran for that and many devout Muslims learn it from there. I personally was never raised to Pray 5 times a day and think in a Muslim fashion but i started doing it after reading Quran in translation of my native tongue, i think if you want to learn about it Give Quran a read and try to do some of the thought experiments mention in it and like just generally be try to be open to learn. It has this an almost supernatural ability to convince people of these things which may seem different to you. And the ultimate concern as a muslim is not that we fear islam might vanish or completely be watered down etc, we believe its never going to happen. its the fear that its not our children and family who are affected by it and are unfortunate enough to be one the wrong side on the day of judgement. Also including the sense of responsibility that Allah made us realize all this yet if we don't tell people this he might ask us why we didn't.

Ok I'm listening to this video insha Allah to its completion. It's a good video and it definitely needs to be discussed, but let me comment on a few things. One way that the liberalist agenda works to change Islam is that since Islam is now an identity, the idea of propogating the faith to non-Muslims is now completely abandoned. The Power that Be know that Muslims do not like white people very much, so they increase this anger by making Muslims thin that white = non-Muslim, PoC = Muslim. In the past Muslim in the West would have open houses, give dawah, and feel inspired when we changed the hearts of non-Muslims who were Islamophobic through good action and dialogue. Now in the last five years, Muslims have gone from saying "please study Islam" to "fuck you white boy." TTPB love this because they want to destroy any idea of white people converting to Islam, and/or staying in the Muslim community. Islam used to be a religion where any one member can become part of the in-group instantly. This infuriates liberals, especially those in BLM, because no matter how helpful/nice/allied a white person can be, they can NEVER become part of the in-group, only an ally that is part of the problem due to his skin color/penis. I think that even though you should be commended for being so brave to stand up to the left wing Muslims and other groups, this aspect that I am talking about is so taboo that even you had to frame your arguments under the greater context of white supremacy and colonialism. The reason why many Muslims are abandoning their faith is not so much because that they are being brainwashed by Europeans. It's the fact that Allah can guide who He pleases, and lead astray who He pleases. There would be many white people who would join the Muslim community if Muslims would boycott and divest from SJWs and stop this idea that being white is antittheical to being Muslim. But given the political climate as you stated, that is way too extreme and controversial. TTPB would crush any such movement.

@archivalfootage1

Yep. But they are not getting it. There is an agenda to turn Islam into strictly a racial based identity, similar to what has happened to the Jewish community in the west. By turning the deen into merely an identity what you have done is effectively eliminate the ability to give dawah. Thus preventing the spread of Islam organically. Once you have equated Muslim= POC and nonmuslim=white/american it is over. You have successfully created a marxist style identity. I can guarantee you that this has already occurred and that when some Muslims read the word Kufar in the Quran in their minds they are thinking about white people.
@archivalfootage1
@archivalfootage1 6 жыл бұрын
@Jorrdi. He is not saying that. Please re-read what is being said. What he is saying is that Islam is being changed into an identity that preaches exclusivity based on this modern bs of "privilege (white) vs non privilege (non-white)". This is not what Islam is. Islam is for everyone, every race, every culture. It is about the belief in the ONE true God and His final Messenger (SAW). But by defining Islam through identity you are in fact turning potential believers away. Right now those potential believers are White people. By antagonizing and inflaming elements within that community that could have been potential believers you are going to be dealing with people who in turn rush head forth to movements such as Trumpism or altright, etcc. This will not end well, bc they are only reacting to survive. I really do not understand why people can not see this clearly. Shaytan is working to divide people up and turn people away from Islam. LOOK DEEPLY AT WHAT IS GOING ON.

What a genious move by the Zionists, who are thinking 10 moves ahead agains the Muslim community. Then on the other end of the spectrum some white non-Muslims are brainwashed by the media into thinking these attacks are real. Not a fun time to be a white convert. If a person rejects what is commonly/necessarily known to be part of the Deen, then this is kufr. If a person deems well-known haraam to be halaal (or vice versa), then he has, in essence, belied the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wasallam) and can't be regarded as Muslim.

Milli.. people do have their own choices to make in life. Each person is accountable for that themselves, except generally the ones who are compelled and excused. After that the systems of degradation, incarceration, poor facilities for education and institutionalized racism... have made less readily available safe and progressive options for the poorer and minorities. It's a rigged game where fewer win, and the loosing is made to seem fair seeming all the while until it's too late.

Before the liberal reforms of Lyndon Johnson, Blacks had higher rates of two parent families and lower rates of unemployment than whites. Thomas Sowell writes about how liberalism did more damage to the Black family in 30 years than slavery ever did in 400.

Return to the Quran and Sunnah, all this talk about (political) ideologies resembles el felsefa (philosophy), and is not going to bring you any closer to God. All you should be concerning yourself with in this dunya, is ibada (prayer/ worship) and good deeds. All these so called islamic youtube scholars/ skeptics seem to be putting theirselves at the center of attention, standing at the sidelines, pointing out what everyone else is doing wrong et cetera.. I don’t know why, but it feels off to me somehow. It doesn’t feel like the essence of Islam. It doesn’t feel right. Your channel in its essence seems to be more dedicated to identity politics, which is fine. But doesn’t feel like what we as muslims should be occupying ourselves with. Most of your video’s seem to have a negative undertone, its all about conflict. But what about all the beauty of Islam, why not focus on that? Allah should be at the center of your content if you are going to dedicate your channel to Islam, now it seems like your ego, and you having an outlet to spread your ideas and ideologies, are at the center of your channel. In its essence your youtube channel is all about you and your ideas/ opinions. Not trying to insult you or anything, perhaps just pointing out something you might not have noticed. Dunno.. just feels off for some reason.

Interesting thought. I would like to see Brother Daniel answer this.

If you can’t see that Islam is under attack in America and many are losing (yup, this is the correct spelling) their Islamic way of life through influences and pressure, some are subtle and many are about as subtle as getting hit with a sledgehammer, then I can understand your feelings. Daniel is talking about dominant ideologies in American culture that have been developed to take people out of religion and making them align with a secular, free society that does not have the moral rules and guidelines that religions have historically brought to societies around the world. You can enjoy the beauty of Islam every day and still be informed about how we are being affected by this liberal dominant ideology that Daniel is describing. This will help you to discuss with your Muslim brothers about the beauty and peace of Islam and help them to appreciate what they have and not give in to the pressures that are being put on religions, especially Islam in the US.

Well at least brothers like Daniel care enough to warn the muslims against this degeneracy of liberalism taking hold in islamic muslim socities and corrupting the youth. I don't see you doing much other than complaining and whining against people who take the time out of their day to educate us muslims who are too naive and blind to this hidden agenda. Maybe you should whine less and join in the fight instead of giving your opinions from the sidelines.

Daniel's criticism of whites as a race compared to Islam as a religion are apples to oranges and disingenuous. Islam is not a race white is not a religion. Christianity did not spread by conquest unlike Islam. He complains about white colonial history but we just did what you did far more successfully in a shorter period of time. Your Persian Aryan ancestors have a longer history of subjugating others than any white civilization. You were persecuting Greeks before any power in Europe became colonial and most of that colonial Era you complain about is during the secularized judaic control period of post "enlightenment" so cannot be attributed to Christianity

A person who resorts to the 'Taqiyya' card, doesn't deserve arguments such that a *theologian* might understand it. A assume a theologian has academic honesty to not resort to such cheap tactics. Besides, Taqiyya isn't even a Sunni concept. If you were really serious about engaging in an honest and civil discussion, you'd study a little more and try to know better. And for the record, no one here is trying to *justify* Islam to the west. Lol
