Question for the Sheikh: It is narrated from Ḥazrat ʻAlī (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) made a covenant with me, saying: "O ʻAlī! Only a believer will love you, and only a hypocrite will harbor enmity towards you." This ḥadīth was narrated by Imām Tirmiḏẖī, who stated that it is ḥasan (good) and ṣaḥīḥ (authentic). [Reported by al-Tirmiḏẖī in al-Sunan, Kitāb al-Manāqib, Bāb Manāqib ʻAlī bin Abī Ṭālib (may Allah be pleased with him), 05/643, Hadith No. 3736] Question: Does this ḥadīth imply that ʿAmīr Muʿāwiyah was a hypocrite, since it is reported in Ṣaḥīḥ Bukhārī and Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim that he disliked ʿAlī (peace be upon him) and even cursed him during sermons?

I advice you my brother to keep good manners when speaking about the companions of Sayyidna Muhammad (pbuh). If you have something good to say, say it. If you don’t have anything good to say, then better to keep quiet. To sit here now and make judgement on people who lived 1400 years ago is not wise. Especially when we don’t know if the historical accounts we have are true, and we certainly don’t know the inner states of the people we are judging. Allah knows best Ali Elsayed

@@ShaykhAliElsayed Shaykh, I understand what you're saying, and it really bothers me because I love all the Sahaba of our beloved Prophet ﷺ. But when someone says that it's historically accurate that Amir Muawiya رضي الله عنه fought against Ali عليه السلام, and that Hazrat Ammar رضي الله عنه was killed by the forces of Amir Muawiya رضي الله عنه, it raises questions for me. Especially because the Prophet ﷺ said in a sahih hadith that Ammar رضي الله عنه would call people to Jannah (paradise) and his enemies would call people to Jahannam (hell), and that he would be killed by a rebellious group. Doesn't that hadith confirm that Amir Muawiya رضي الله عنه was a rebel and someone who led people towards Jahannam?
