My voice wasn't feeling too hot for this one so it was probably the most frustrating so far lol Anyways, enjoy! And hit that Sub button if you're feeling frisky!

I've always enjoyed the genuine friendship between Vecna and his apprentice. Acererak risked his life to save his master, and Vecan saved the boy, seeing a bit of his own backstory in him. Sure, they're evil and would probably not feel too bad about destroying the other if it came down too it, but I like to think that of all the beings in the multiverse, they'd kill eachother last.

That's so funny that you mention that. When I was writing that part, I said to myself "wow, so Vecna did at least one nice thing in his life" haha

So I'm not sure if anyone has alerted you yet on this particular topic, but there is a strange book that can be found in the current early access version of Baldur's Gate 3 that seems to hint towards Acererak's possible future involvement in that game (some of us think it's not just random flavor text, considering Acererak's name is partially redacted in that passage for some reason, but the rest of the passage clearly describes Chult and the Tomb of Annihilation). I ended up finding this video while looking for a way to explain what he is, for BG3 players new to DnD lore that might want to look up a potential adversary that we might be facing in the full version of the game once it's released in about a year (as of the time of this writing). I'd like to say as someone who had only started playing DnD within the past 5 years, great job. The passage in question, which appears to be written from the point of view of an unfortunate adventurer, with the book somehow being found in a Harpy Nest at a river a few days walk away from Baldur's Gate: --- [...] We've followed Musharib's instructions so far, but something feels odd. We've encountered no creatures along the way. Only alien noises from all directions. Sleep evades us, and the muck on my boots has hardened into a permanent feature. Hopefully, we find [...] [...] Lost more hair this morning. I knew there were side effects to coming back, but I didn't expect it to be so [...] [...] -erak. I hear him laughing, the lamentations of the Omuans droning like a chorus. What is the purpose of this hellhole? He speaks through the ceilings, the walls, the floor. Is he the tomb? Is he [...] [On the last legible page is a crudely drawn charcoal outline of a Bearded Devil's face, its mouth agape in a silent scream.]

I have seen lots of lore videos on Acererak and I must say yours is extremely easy to digest thanks to its clear structure. Great work, man! Liked, subbed and obviously commented!

This is the first thing that started to give me a handle on this feller. Including the text of ToA which up to ch 3 as Dm I still don’t have a clue and there is so much interesting stuff in the jungles which points away into other lores that it makes the campaign feel a bit aimless. Yeah there is the death curse but if I was in the world and didn’t know about the atropal I might just say it’s fine, one lifetime is enough. I try to make fantasy a bit more realistic in not having pure good mortals, so the more powerful they become and the more time they have the more likely any latent evil is to come out. Tl;dr idk why I’d personally want to end the curse and would probably get distracted by Mezro and other lore. I need Acererak to be more of an entity in my campaign doing more than waiting around in the boss room, and/or other reasons to motivate a party i would find compelling (currently modding a homebrew variety of cellar of death for that). Your vid is very helpful for looking way at the other end of the maze to what Acereack may be doing and why.

An interesting note in Icewind Dale: Rime of The Frostmaiden, is the implication that Vecna was responsible for the destruction of the Spellweaver's original timeline, and that he later allowed their time-obelisks to fall into the hands of the Netherese. Acererak's tomb of the 9 gods was one of the locations where these obelisks could be found. I'm not sure what to make of it, but knowing those two and knowing what the obelisks do, it's fair to say that some extremely destructive chronomancy to maybe bypass the updated defenses of locations like Sigel or even the dawn of creation isn't out of the question

!! Somehow the tidbit about an obelisk existing in the Tomb of the Nine Gods escaped me during my reading !! That would have been a great bit of info to add in there, considering who the videos talking about.

Actually, both Vecna and Acerarak have their origins in Oerth, the World of Greyhawk. I don’t care what nonsense the Wizards of the Coast publish and call canon, those of us who’ve played the original Tomb of Horrors know the truth!

Amen, there is no earth in D&D. I can't believe they are trying to pass this off as D&D lore.

He is my patron my lord my mask. If master of all things and the one that I gladly bow down before. He is timeless he is immortal, not even the lady of pain who sits upon the pintle of the course Is core of existence of The Multiversal system Can dare to stand before him. He is infinite as his hatred for life is infinite. He is the one he is the only. He is the man who is so angry that literally even death could not stop him. The Great lord of the Endless death ACERERAAAK!!!!!
