The Life and Times of Liam Mellows

This film was produced as part of a project entitled ‘Our Stories’ which was produced by young people from Castletown, Gorey, Co. Wexford during a project conducted with artist/filmmaker Michael Fortune between September 2014 and June 2015.
The project involved close to thirty young people who researched, devised and produced their own documentaries about important
stories and people from the area. This project included the shooting of a short film throughout the village as well as conducting interviews with older people from the area, in the school and in their own homes.
The films produced, feature a re-imagining of the life of one the village’s famous sons, Liam Mellows, whilst their folklore collection unearthed a vast number of stories from the area, many which they had never heard of.
This project produced as part of Wexford County Council's 'Artist in the Community Scheme' and supported by Wexford County Council, Castletown Liam Mellows GAA club and Scoil Ghormáin Naofa, Castletown.
