I had the privilege and honor of attending a live concert Roy performed at the San Diego Wild Animal Park and along with thousands of spectators sitting on the grass, we were all blown away as he belted out one song after another. It was hard to believe that they weren't just plating one of his albums. His voice was incredibly clear. No fancy gimmicks, in fact his mouth barely moved, his hits just kept on coming. I always liked his singing but had no idea how many he had. When he finished everyone there jumped up and gave him about ten minutes of standing ovation. The park was about 50 miles away from where we lived but we enjoyed his performance so much that we returned the next evening and it was just as great and again an unending standing ovation!...doesn't get any better.

Girls on the side, Coca Cola chips and 'Shuffle' to the music of Roy Orbison, Ricky Nelson, Elvis etc. Now I am almost 72 years old, I still listen to Roy's hits every year. My 85 yr old dad was pumping his foot up and down in rhythm Roy and Springsteen. I rejoined with: "Dad, you like Roy Orbison!" Oh yeah, I have seen him many times. Oh gosh I thought the dementia is worse than I imagined. Dad never went to a movie house since WWII ended; not to mention, a concert. I was quite then gently spoke about Roy being a international super star. Dad said yeah I know. I have seen him when he was young at Wink, next door Kermit TX coffee shop; not to mention, the Jal NM country club. Oh man I bit my tongue because Wink TX 1950's was known as a handful of rusted tin buildings and Jal Country Club reminded me of cow pasture with a rusted corrugated tin barn looking building for a club house. I was quite for some minutes then said something else about Orbison's fame. Pop got up stomped out of the room telling me as he left that he had seen Roy and the Westerners more times than he could remember. The joke was on me. It never occured to me that someone that famous could come from the treeless "arm pit" of West Texas, as us locals called it. The temps would soar to 115 with regularity because of the lack of vegetation. The buildings were so hot that the oil field workers slept outside at night. How could a talent that great come from such humble origins. Later in life I read the Word of God and now I understand.

After 40 years of song writing and playing guitar I still find myself falling into a Roy Orbison chord progression. I'm just lucky that way. The man is a God amongst musicians! Love you still Roy.

There were in my humble opinion 2 perfect voices in music during my lifetime one male and one female the female was the Great PATSY CLINE ,and the male was ROY ORBISON and they will never be equaled.

I agree. It always seems to change like traffic lights for me. Right now it’s “I Drove All Night” but tomorrow it could be “California Blue”.

I love Roy Orbison’s music 😍 he’s one of my favorite singers ♥️. There’s something special in his voice and music that makes him the BEST 😍. It’s too bad that he died so young because I know he still had so much to give 😢. But I’m so Thankful that we have his songs to hear now and to remember him by ♥️. I can listen to his songs ALL day long and never get tried of it 😍. He will be truly missed forever ♥️

A few years ago (5) I had the opportunity to work in the oilfields of west Texas, and ended up passing thru Wink Tx. on a daily basis, where the Roy Orbison museum is. Awesome, it was like my Graceland. I understand the loneliness he must of felt in that tiny Texas town. Roy Orbison forever missed

I saw Roy play live three times in the mid-1980s, before his well-deserved celebration by the music world. I saw him twice in Denver, once in a theater in the round, and another time at a show club with a two-drink minimum. The third time, I saw Roy play Symphony Hall in Phoenix, a more fitting venue for such a talent. He performed the same show each time, running exactly one hour. I didn't care that the program was the same; the music and the voice were incomparable.

❤ kd lang received a 5 minute ovation for singing Roy' song Crying. It aired in Feb 1990. It was a tribute to Roy and his music. So many musicians and people he worked with performed. When kd did Crying it blew the roof off. You can Google it and if you loved Roy's voice you will love her rendition of a great song.
