The first day SCHD is positive in your IRA, sell it and focus on growth stocks. SCHD is a great retirement fund once you have a lot of cash. It's what an annuity should be. Pay you consistently yet doesn't F you in so many ways like the annuity... 50 SCHD, 25 JEPI (less year over year growth but pays out much more to increase your income), 25% rock solid single companies paying consistently monthly or quarterly. So far SCHD has not been live-changing yet. Surprisingly, it has added volitity to my dividend portfolio. Dividend yeild is higher than inflation, which is a plus. It really depends on how you want to approach living off of your investments. Soon the markets will turn next year after the elections are over and we get through the January effect stuff. I have the feeling that it will pay a dividend, but no growth in this until midterm elections. Wait to buy it at a better entry price. From what I have listened to in this video, it feels like spam to me.

I don’t think people realize that this video just shows what the return would be on $100,000 with reinvested dividends. Dividends are just forced stock sales. S&P500 has better total return. Reinvesting dividends means you have to pay taxes before you reinvest - you lose part of your reinvestment to taxes. You would be better off not selling your non-dividend stock instead of the forced stock sale and reinvestment of the dividend. If you really needed the income from your stock(s), you can just sell a small portion of you stock when you needed the income. This seems to be advice by and for people without advanced math skills.
